Just a few ideas not sure if they are doable.
If the firmware can measure how much power the stepper motor is using. It could be possible to get a indication that something is "stuck" and the motor should reverse and the app pop up a message to warn you.
Also it could be possible to glue on magnets. There is enough space when the scope is powered off and closed. Then the dew shield should fall off. Maybe not a perfect solution and it might disturb the sensors in the Seestar.
Maybe the "best" solution is to enable a function that the user enabe/disable if you have a dew shield/filter connected and when the Seestar is going to automatic power off its not going to turn the scope all the way but just as far that filter/dew shield is not going to get stuck.
