Can't get Canon R5 to work with ASIAir Plus

Hey all!

I made a pretty big jump from a sky tracker with R5 + various lenses to an AM5 with a number of new editions. My gear is as follows:

Camera: Canon R5
Scope: Redcat 51 WIFD with EAF
Mount: AM5
Guider: ASI120mm with 30 mm f4
ASIAir Plus

The issue I am having is that I can’t get the setup to plate solve or polar align. I have tried with both the R5 and ASI120mm and while both detect 100+ stars, it always fails. I think the real issue is that when trying to "preview", it does not record an image that lets you preview. I think this then makes PS/PA impossible. Interestingly, it allows me to capture / record pictures to memory with the "Autorun" feature. When I set the ASI120MM as the main camera, the preview option works.

Has any one had similar issues?

I am powering the AM5 and ASIAir with separate power supplies, FWIW. I have the AM5 and EAF plugged into the USB 3.0 ports on the AM5 and the two cameras plugged into the USB 2.0 ports. I have tried switching the R5 to 3.0, without luck. I have one cable from the Am5 to the ASIAir, one from the EAF to the ASIAir, one from the guide camera to the ASIAir, and one from the R5 to the ASIAir.

Initially I had a light pollution filter installed and thought that was the issue but I’m still having the issue after removing it.

Settings wise, I have the ISO at between 800-1600, have tried shutter times between 3-10 seconds, have tried the camera in M and B modes, have it set to save to camera and ASIAir, have it set to only save as RAW files and not JPG. Interestingly, the PA feature still “detects” stars when the Redcat lens cap is on. I have the FL of the Redcat set to 250 on the ASIAir and guide camera set to 120 mm.

Things I have tried, that did not help:

Reset camera settings
Tried different cables
Switched between USB 3.0 and 2.0
Have ensured that the setting allowing shutter release w/o lens is enabled
Disabled long exposure NR
Tried different Bin #
Set FL to 0
Reset ASIAir
Rolled back ASIAir firmware, and re-updated
Disconnected all cables from the ASIAir other than the R5

Any idea what’s going on and/or what I can do to fix this?

What firmware ver on the R5?
The only problem that I have With the ASIAir+ is Lunar blowout, so I just use EOS Utility for that. DSO works fine with all my lenses and my ZWO FF80 APO.
