detection issue with EAF

Hello.
4 years ago, I bought a complete package with ASIAIR/ASI2600MC/EAFv1

However, in the last 5/6 months, I have trouble with EAF
At first it had disconnected during imaging sessions.

I have replaced the USB cable by a new one,
I have try several USB port (ASIAIR/ASI2600/Integrated USB of mount) and the disconnections still appear.

I have also replaced the alimentation cable even if, during the problem, the red LED is always powered….

Since last week (return of good weather !!), the behavior is a little bit different!!
It was the first time since I upgrade ASIAIR in release 2.1.5.
The EAF is not detected at startup….
I must remove cable and reconnect.
And then EAF is detected, and I can go in menu to activate it

When I say I remove cable, it is on EAF side.
If I remove on ASIAIR side, not solve because not detected

It seems to indicate an EAF issue....

On a previous attempt, I flash the firmware of EAF to latest (3.3.8) w/o improvements…

Any idea ?

Followup : Tonight, the EAF is no longer detected, even if disconnect/reconnect.......

Does a PC or laptop detect it when connected to a USB port?

Yes, please connect it to PC for test, if it can not be recognized with different USB cables and ports, it may need to be shipped back for repair.

As explain, it is detected by Firmware Upgrade tool (without the need to unplug/plug it)

Back at home,
I first retry with ASIAIR :
it is still not detect at powerup, but i have to unplug/plug to have it detected.

I have try to powersupply it (EAF v1) from ASIAIR or from external supply : same results.

Then, I have make the same with a WINDOWS PC, using same USB cable.

No need to unplug/plug !!
Firmware upgrade tool detect the EAF immediatly...

And for information, firmware had been updated to latest (3.38) months before...

A little bit weird ..... isn't it ?

The ASIAIR can also involved ???

how a Service Repair by ZWO work (is there a repair center in Europe or the device have to be delivered to ZWO) ?
the full price (including delivery) for an EAF (because it is perhaps a better idea to buy a new one...) ?

lionel6487 Thank you for your patience, the issue sounds strange.
Could you try all four USB ports on the ASIAIR to conenct the EAF to see if any difference?
And if possible, please also try the USB hub on the cooled camera, thanks.

By the way, we do not have a repair center in Europe yet.

I had allready done the tests and unfourtunately with the same result.
I have also add a third one, as explain in my initial message : try the USB hub of my CEM60 mount......faulty !!!

And I stay with two potential source of the issue : EAF or/and ASIAIR...

A direct question : is a complete erasure/reinstall of ASIAIR possible ?
With a fresh installation, and from my point of view, it will exclude it from the equation

PS : the issue is more than strange ... crazy !!! ;-)

Good evening.

Clear skies forecast, so I try to get the configuration out again.

It is impossible to get the EAF recognized by ASIAIR (which is essential).
I tried again, for nothing, with all the cables and all the USB ports.

I went back to the initial connections, I turned everything off and on again.
After starting the app, I unplugged the temperature sensor and the USB cable on the EAF.
Then I plugged the USB cable back in and then, miracle!! Detection!!!
I reconnected the temperature sensor which seems to work well (temperature change).

I have already reproduced this process 3 times....
For me, this directly implicates the EAF (electronic problem? connectors? ...).

Is it possible to find out how much it costs to repair an EAF (electronic board with the connectors soldered, I guess)?
This will quickly let me know if I'm buying a new one or if the repair is worth it (shipping cost to you plus price of your repair)

lionel6487 May i know what generation is your ASIAIR? ASIAIR Pro or ASIAIR Plus
If it is Pro, we released the OS and opreation guide here, you can refer to this to try.

So if you connect the EAF first, then power the ASIAIR Plus, it won't be recognized, if you power the ASIAIR first, then connect the EAF, it works well, right?

Sometimes, it works well.
Sometimes, I have also to disconnect to the temp sensor, before powerup ASIAIR, then plug EAF to have it detect....

I submit a RMA ticket immediatly.
