How to downgrade/rollback ASIAIR App & Firmware with Android

This is all well and good but half the time you don't even know which firmware version is contained on which app version. For more than 12 months the app was on version 1.9 so many firmwares came and went, also with v2.0. I've even got a v2.1.49 from Feb 2023, then the app number version went backwards in Nov 2023 to 2.1.2, so how does that work?

The firmware versions available from the link in the Cloudy Nights post should be the ones shown in the picture below:

If you look at the release log you can see the list of official releases going back a bit

You can then go to the site which has the official releases plus all the beta/ testing firmware (which is probably what you're referring) going back to 1.9.1

Thank You! i followed your procedure and it worked perfectly. i had 2.1.3 saved on my tablet (glad i did). i "upgraded" to 2.2 (and 2.2.1) because of the BT control of the AM3 mount. that worked great......too bad about all the bugs, so back to 2.1.3 for a while

If you don't use the CAA and are on Android and are having issues with firmware v2.3.1/2.3.2 then I recommend downgrading the version of the firmware/app pair and making sure to set the ASIAIR App to only update manually on your device (via the Play Store App on your Android phone).

That way you can run the version of the ASIAIR App of your choice (i.e. the version that worked for you) and choose when you want to upgrade.

Just an FYI - the link to previous APK files on the Cloudy Nights post doesn't have 2.3.3 APK file.

Thanks for the immense support on this! I have a question:

If I purchase an ASIAir Plus with the intention to use app/firmware version 1.9.1, would there be any chance that this could not work? I mean, are there ASIAirs that are pre-lodaded with factory versions ABOVE 1.9.1 and therefore couldn't be downgraded?

I mean, if the factory reset returns the firmware to, say, version 2.0 app-compatible, will I still be able to "return" to the firmware that is compatible with 1.9.1?

Understand, but I don't know.

The showstopper will be what the base firmware version is that it will roll back to when a factory reset is applied. The reason is this - it wont roll back to anything earlier than that. For ASIAir 2.3.3 the firmware version is 12.03 so as long as it predates that you're OK.

I know mine (older ASIAir Plus with SD card) will go back to 2.1 but I haven't tried earlier versions.

If you are buying in person, take a phone with you with ASIAir installed, and ask to see it powered up and connect to it. The version is accessible.
