Latest 2 updates messed things up on pro and plus

I have an ASIAIR pro on my AVX mount, and an ASIAIR plus 32gb on my am5. There were no issues on either rig before these updates. Build 11.26

1) on the Plus/AM5, it plate solves just fine in preview. It also plate solves just fine in polar alignment as it tilts the scope, then for 2 or 3 plate solves as I get things dialed in…then it just fails. Repeatedly. I have shut down and started over with the same result.

2) on the Pro/AVX, I can connect and see everything in the interface, but it won’t connect to the hand controller of the AVX. I’ve tried selecting Celestron AVX as the mount, and I tried Eqmod. Both say that it is failing to connect and to check the baud. It was working fine before the updates. (When I changed it from Celestron Avx as the mount and set it to eqmod, it slewed itself to point the scope straight down, but still refused to connect??!!

Here’s the weird thing. I swapped the stairs so the pro is on my am5. Works fine.

But putting the plus on the avx yields the same problem as before.

This is after an update screwed things up and they quickly released another update.

does anybody know anything? I have not seen complaints about the AVX issue yet, but I had seen issues regarding polar alignment.

UPDATE: AVX issue spontaneously resolved on both ASIAIR pro and plus; although I still get the 3 star alignment error on the Pro. On the plus it just asks if I want to do a quick alignment on the HC…this is not asked on the Plus…just the error.

I’ll test polar align tonite.

3 star alignment? With the airs you simply polar align your EQ mount and you're done, there is no traditional 1/2/3 star alignment. If you need to be more precise, point to a region of sky, take an image, plate solve and sync to mount. Nothing else needs to be done.

Astrop Exactly. It shouldn't even be asking for a 3 star alignment in the first place.

UPDATE: AVX issue spontaneously resolved on both ASIAIR pro and plus, but only in terms of successfully being able to connect (though on the Pro I still get the 3-star alignment error...which is odd).

However, when I tell the mount to go Home (via the AP) it still slews towards the ground. I have tried releasing the clutches and putting them back in the home position, then power cycling the mount and the AP. Even when I set the Home position in the HC, then power cycle, it still wants to slew to the ground when I tell it to go home.

I have AVX selected as the mount in the AP, and the baud at 9600.

Can you successfully plate solve and sync?

If you remove the air out of the system does your AVX correctly go to home position and/or goto near enough?

I'm assuming your location is set correct on your mount and also your controlling device when using the air.

I wouldn't dismiss the app or firmware version of the air yet (I don't think your are anyway). When I updated from v1.9 to v2.0 of the app with its firmwares bundled within I had similar issues with all my mounts, plate solving failing after three odd attempts then the mount deciding it wanted to send the OTA towards the ground, also it decided to override the home position to east/west in Ra. My solution? I didn't use the latest versions of the app (so no newer firmwares for the airs) for months. ZWO don't test their releases properly and leave it for users to find faults, rather than sorting it all out in beta.

I had no idea anybody had replied. . . need to be sure I get notifications. My AVX works fine without the asiair. I did manage to get this part fixed.

But still having issues with the ZWO am5 mount plate solving with the ZWO asiair plus 32gb.

Absolutely maddening.

Are you using Android to run the ASIAIR App?

Might be worth downgrading then turning off auto update for the ASIAIR App (via Play Store App).

Corsair Nope. iPhone 14 Pro Max. And I cannot see how to downgrade. I don’t have auto updates turned on as ZEO has never really screwed things up quite this badly…bugs are fine, but this level of problem was not expected.

When I look on the website under Software, I don’t even see that I can get to the last good firmware at all.

Can y’all walk me thru how to downgrade back to 21?

gatehealing Oh. Unfortunately downgrading isn't really an option with iOS/iPadOS.

You might need to try giving the latest beta a go instead (usual disclaimers about beta software apply):

And I highly recommend turning off auto update of the ASIAIR App on your device (which, for iOS/iPadOS, is done via the App Store). Remember, ZWO don't control when an app updates, your device does. You don't have to install the latest version of the ASIAIR App/Firmware (I'm still running 2.1-10.74 but I'm on Android as well as using Android via BlueStacks 5 on my Windows PCs).

Dang. I’d like to get back to 2.1.x if possible. Even if complicated on iOS, my brother can help me.

I don’t have auto updates on, I’ve just updated bc I trusted ZWO to test these things effectively…never been this much of a problem. If I can get it back to the last working version, I won’t update again till a version has been out at least a month.
