SeeStar S50 arm stuck

Hey I wanted to close the arm this morning after Stargazing all night and clicked the button to close the arm, I waited a bit before I picked up the SeeStar but I guess it was a bit too early. Now it seems like the motorized arm is stuck.

Is there any hope of getting it back to life 🙁

AstroPhilM31 Could it be that to need to charge the batteries to full before trying to turn on the S50 and then use the close button?

No Seestar had 80% Batterie. Was connected to power bank all night

[unknown] ahh ok then i would disconnect the battery for a few seconds. re-connect and if you can connect to the S50 if would first try to use i.e the scenery mode and rotate a little and also try to adjust the height up/down. if this is ok then i would try the "close arm".

I will try this out this afternoon, I had reset it this morning and also took the battery out for a minute. Still was stuck. I will update you here, I also have opened a ticket and Zwo wants a video of the SeeStar and also suggested to move the arm manually via the apps Joystick.

AstroPhilM31 at the same time as using the app I would probably try to move it by hand but with very little force. But i guess this is not something they recommend. Please give feedback if and how your problem was solved. I guess at some point other can get a similar issue. I would also check if there was anything stuck in between the arm.

Since the mount uses worm gears and they are plastic, I would not recommend trying to move the mount by hand. Doing so would almost certainly cause damage to the gears.

Digital Don i know and that was why i specified "very little force".

Ok figured it out.

I restarted the Seestar and went into scenery mode. I moved it around with the Virtual Joystick and then I realized that the arm was not turn 180 and whenever I tried to "close" the arm it tried to just go the wrong way (I don't know maybe because it thoughts it's shorter way?) so I brought the arm all the way back the other way to close it. Then opened it via the button and closed it again.

Seems like when the arm is over a certain angle backwards it goes home the wrong way.

AstroPhilM31 @support Thanks for this information. Please report it to zwo as this most likely is going to happen to someone else. So either a howto in the documentation to solve this when it happens or better a change in the firmware.

LA3QMA yes I have reported it in the ticket and also updated the bug report in the app. I do have the newer firmware with mosaic function over ios Testflight installed. Tonight I will try to reproduce it and make a video of it to send to two.

Hi, is your Seestar back to normal?
Restart Seestar, can you move your arm to the "home" position when you control the joystick?

Yes, after moving it around I saw that the arm was trying to go back to the "Home" position the wrong way. Moved the arm via Joystick back and then clicked close and open and close again and it worked. Since then I had no issues.
