  • NINA/Pixinsight problme with ASI461MM

I just powered up my ASI461 and NINA fit file captures viewed in PI have a checkerboard pattern of black pixels. The same applies with NINA captures viewed in the ASI Fits viewer but files captured in ASIImg look fine in the ASI viewer. Thanks

I cannot up load it but I can send you a link. This file was captured with ASI Studio at offset 16 gain 100 and you can see the black pixels are around 160 which is 10*16

This file I changed the offset to 100 and captured it with NINA. I can see no difference between NINA and ASI Studio in the captured data. The black pixels here are at 1000

My conclusion is that this camera chip is broken.

    Thanks

After reading my initial post I should update some observatios. Neither ASI Studio or NINA look any different it is just the stretching differences that make the images look different on closer inspection I see the checkerboard pattern in each image.

Ispybadguys Looks may need to be shipped back for inspection. Have you submit a RMA ticket? we received a ASI461MM Pro RMA case that has the same problem.

It may be the same one. I contacted WH two days ago and ZWO headquarters is going to ship me a replacement. The camera is in a remote observatory on a side-by-side mount with 3 other scopes and if I remove the camera the whole assembly will be out of balance. So they are doing me a great favor here. Given my understanding of CMOS readout design it looks like bad silicon to me. Just my guess.

Ispybadguys It maybe a problem on the daughterboard, do you have a RMA or support ticket number? so I can locate and track it for you.

I don't. Corporate sent me a replacement and a return label. Farah at WH helped arrange a replacement.
