Problem with ASI120MCS

My brand new windows 8 Asus Zen Book with 3.0 usbs won't recognize the ASI120MCS. I have installed the driver twice, plugged the camera into my USB but the device manager won't recognize it and I get a constant error message from Sharpcap or Firecapture. Any help please?

Check FireCapture log file (in the application folder).

This is the message I get from the firecapture log:

WARNING: Unable to init cam: de.wonderplanets.firecam.ASICam

Can you give me some help of what to do?

No the camera is not in the device manager. I have tried to add it but can't do this. I have run the driver program twice and I have a a program icon on the desktop for the camera. When on Firecapture, I get the following message on the log:

WARNING: Unable to init cam: de.wonderplanets.firecam.ASICam

I also get an error message from Sharpcap.

Does Windows notice that something was connected to the USB? If not then the camera is dead.

No windows doesn't detect the camera. Also my Mac does not detect the camera. I will try other computers to finally decide if the camera is at fault.

I am having the same problem with my new ASI120mc-s

I just get this when I open sharpcap. "Error during preview (0x80040209)" in the middle of the screen

Tried everything, new and old drivers, new USB 3.0 drivers......any more ideas, as I am beginning to think that these cameras are more trouble than they are worth....

Mine is not recognised by the USB 3 port, but works fine on the USB 2 so my. A era is not dead!!

Firecapture is as far as I know a 32-bit application. Have you tried win 7 32-bit?

I tried win 7 64-bit, no good... FireCapture no problems, though. EDIT SharpCap...

It won't work on win 7 or 8 with my laptop but works perfectly on both with USB 2

It's a USB 3.0 problem...

Yes it has that exact intel controller, that is why I am annoyed as it is supposed to work with it, i did have the ASI120mc USB 2 camera before and wonder if it anything to do with that driver, although I have uninstalled it

Try and run Driver Sweeper or the likes to really nuke what remains there might be of old driver, and nuke current driver, defrag, then re-install it.

Use the cable that came with the cam, if you're not already, no extensions, no hubs

Driver sweeper no longer available and has been replaced, and it only removes graphics card drivers anyway

Is there something else that does the same thing??

Device Remover perhaps? It's the only free-ware tool I can find, but I don't know the program, study a review or two.

Rated as a very powerful tool, and I'll have a go at it on my desktop pc for sure. But tread lightly with it, seems you can do some serious damge too, if you're nor careful

Tried the software you found, and completely got rid of everything to do,with ASI and then re installed the latest driver....and exactly the same ..no good
