I went to the site and downloaded the latest driver from there

Still no good

Makes me sick, if I went out and bought any other USB 3 device it would work straight from the box, but these cameras are so fickle and so much lack of testing from the manufactures, and such badly written drivers, if I bought a USB 3 memory stick, or printer, external hard drive, it work work straight away.

Hey, Olly. Couldn't it be a hardware failure in the cam or cable? Let ZWO take a look at it all.

If that was the case, then why does it work perfectly on USB 2 ports, surely if the camera was at fault then it would not work at all.

Good point. Then check BIOS, make sure USB 3.0 is enabled.

It is enabled as I have USB 3.0 flash drives and they work at USB 3.0 speeds.

Well I have managed to get it to work, by using a very short USB 3.0 lead, a 50cm one, anything any longer and no good, so even though it is working still no use to me with such a short cable, no where near long enough to reach my laptop from the scope.

Back to the drawing board

Power issue regarding the usb port? Or bad cable from ZWO? Try and plug in your USB 3.0 device into the ZWO cable and see if it works, and check transfer speed.

No the cable is fine, it just won't work on it as it is too long, it will only work with the short 50cm one I have borrowed, tried two other longer ones, and no good.

So will be selling this camera as no good to me, and going back to a USB 2 version, only being able to use with an 18" cable, how crap is that..........

Just a matter of interested the camera works perfectly over a 13m repeater cable on USB 2, but will only work over 0.5m on USB 3. Go figure......

Yes I don't like to give up really, but it's not going to work, not without spending more money on a 12v powered USB 3.0 hub, and I am not,prepared to chuck anymore money at it....

Thanks for all you help and advice, really appreciate it.. I was hoping maybe Sam had some input but he obviously is not bothered as long as he is selling these cameras.

its not very effective to solve these problems here

and I care about all our products' quality of course

so I hope you take the advice as I said in my email just to change a new one
