I have been trying to use my ASIAIR Plus since I received it a few weeks ago, and have not been able to get it set up correctly.
The main issue is that the app gets my location wrong from the GPS, A latitude and longitude are actually correct numerically, but my latitude is recorded as negative, which would put me in the wrong hemisphere. As a result, if I let the mount (Celestron Advanced VX) sync the location, nothing works and my ASIAIR Plus can't even polar align my telescope. If I configure location in my mount manually through the hand controller, the mount works and I'm able to polar align, but then other functionality still doesn't work, since the app still shows my location in the wrong hemisphere, so the go-to lists are incorrectly filtered (they show objects visible in the southern hemisphere sky) and refuses to go to almost any object claiming that it is below the horizon, even though I can see it right above my head. You can see the main configuration screen, you will see that the coordinates for me and my mount are onb different hemispheres even though we are physically in the same place right next to each other.
Before I configured location manually on the mount, both sets of coordinates were identical, but both in the wrong hemisphere.
Thing I tried or checked:
- All firmware is up to date on the mount, hand controller, ASIAIR and app.
- Coordinates in my phone's GPS are correct when viewed in any other app. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 and has zero issues otherwise.
- I disconnected the GPS from my mount and made sure GPS is disabled in my mount.
- I reset my mount to factory settings.
- I tried any boot and connection order imaginable. I have spent close to a dozen nights trying to solve this issue, probably hundreds of restarts and reconfigurations.
- I uninstalled the app from my phone and reinstalled.
- Ran diagnostics on my phone, morning is wrong with it.
It appears to be an incredibly simple bug, the app just gets the hemisphere wrong in some devices or with some mounts.
Is this a known issue?
Is there a way to change the coordinates manually in the app?
