Gernot, the 2400MC is in my opinion one of the best Cameras on the market. I have the 2400 and 2600. Both are good, but the 2400MC is working "wonders" if you don´t need the small pixels. The extra sensitivity due to the larger pixels, at least for me outweighs the advantage of higher resolution.
But maybe that is because I don´t have too many clear nights where I live.
I haven´t heard of a successor BTW.
