So last night I realised one of my scopes was triggering way to many temperature related autofocus actions.
Looking into things I saw the ZWO EAF was reporting temperatures changes of 0.1 degrees every 1-2 seconds - in a slow wave from 16.2C all the way up to 24.3 then back down to 16.2 over and over and over. So every minute or two (and I was taking a long run of 5 minutes subs) - the temperature it would report has changed by 2-3 degrees.
Further compounding great focus I had temperature compensation set for 21 steps per degree - so every second or two the control program (APT v4.60) was auto-temperature compensating by 2 steps...
I have used this gear with none of these errors being apparent for years now. Searching on the forum I see a thread by a user determining its a 100K ohm resistor issue when the local temperature is between 23 - 26C (hello Summer in Sydney) on the EAFs board - with a suggestion given to update the firmware.
I tried this six months ago and again today - it failed each time with the message Erase failure.
So what can I do next - its driving me spare watching the temperature being reported up and down like a yo-yo and killing my focus routines.
Many thanks,
Matthew
PS
I am a long time user on the forums - but my primary Optus Webmail simply isn't recieving mail from any external sources - Optus has been blackbanned by Salesforce, Amazon and other web services providers because it has been detected as sending too much spam - thus password resets and account verifications simple fail to ever arrive In process of setting up all my accounts again - very slow and painful!
