  • Add a satellite trail removal feature

The new AI Denoise is fantastic. Could you also add a satellite trail removal feature as well? It’s a shame to spend hours on a mosaic only to have a satellite streak by at the last minute. I know this type of edit is part of 3rd party post-processing products but would be a great addition to the Seestar native editing features.

Here’s an example of what happened to me last night.

In all honesty, you'd probably be better off in the long run saving the FITS files and processing in a third party app such as Siril (freeware) or PixInsight (not free). You could then find the FITS files that have the star trails, delete these files, and restack thus eliminating the trails in your master FITS file.

PixInsight has a feature called "Blinking" (I think thats the name) where it quickly display your list of FITS files and you can more easily identify the bad FITS files. Not sure if Siril has an equivalent.

The Seestar also has a restacking capability (DSS) that you can use but you'd still need to identify the bad FITS files.

In my opinion, i doubt your feature request will ever be implemented by Seestar.

It should be quite easy to select the frames that have satellite trails on them and drop or delete when using AI Denoise feature as happens when live stacking.

Seestar_S50 Intelligent noise reduction cannot eliminate satellite trails. If they are directly removed, some users might feel that the photo with satellite trails is still valuable. The presence of satellite trails might be seen as part of the image, and removing them could be considered a flaw. This is something to take into account.

In response to the suggestions, yes I know that it is possible to do this manually and I know this should not be part of noise reduction. I’m suggesting for those of us who don’t save the subs or want to use another app, that a separate editing feature be added to remove the trails if you wish to. It would be nice to have that option right in the Seestar app itself, just like denoising and mosaic were added to the app even though those features also could be done already outside the Seestar app.

Try the AstroEdit app for iPhone. Do what you want easily without complications. The best App for astro.

I thought the Seestar was for astronomical photography not satellite which are near earth objects and due to the number increasing nearly ever week it is become more difficult to take DSO photos without capturing a satellite trial. That is what we use the Seestar for, not to capture satellite trails. If anyone else on thus forum agrees pleas speak up and ask for thus to be implemented.

Thank you for your feedback and valuable suggestions! We understand your desire to avoid capturing satellite trails while photographing deep sky objects. In fact, implementing an automatic exclusion of satellite trails during deep sky imaging is not a simple task, as satellite trajectories and their movement speeds are random. It would require optimizing the current imaging algorithms to intelligently recognize and process these trails.

That said, we will consider this request and evaluate the possibility of adding this feature in future updates. We truly appreciate your suggestion and will continue working to improve the Seestar user experience.

Thank you for your patience and support!
