How do you shift the time scale into a future day? I only see the night for the current day.

Support@Seestar Maybe this is a cultural barrier thing. You are trying to sell this product into a market where customer demands shape a product, not the other way around.

starnet59 I think Support means by the product's physical, electrical, optical and SW limitations, not necessarily by what they want to do with this product.

Can you remove the closing arm and off at the end of a plan? By closing the arm, my accesorys (tube and filter) are pull out. Anny way, if someone want to close arm and go off at the end of plan, it can do it by the auto off after 15 minutes of unuse.

We are considering features like preventing the lens hood from getting stuck, but we won't cancel this feature for now because it will be even worse if you forget to put it away and the sun hits the Seestar Sensor.

Support@Seestar What if you create a option that at dawn the device turns and faces west and the arm facing downwards but not all the way closed?

Thanks for your good suggestion, but we can't guarantee that every user will have power and the time is accurate when they finish their planned shooting. But this is indeed a good idea, I will feedback to the team.

I've tried using the plan mode a couple of times to create overlapping views I can stitch together in PixInsight. This latest attempt, I got some documentation of what went wrong. 21 indivdual panes spanning the area between 47 Tucane and Small Magellanic Cloud. I meticulously laid this one out so there is decent overlap of all adjacent panes, as seen in first photo. Actual panes in one corner did not overlap, as seen in second photo.

And, I cannot load the images in this reply - keep getting "something went wrong"...

I have used it successfully ever since I discovered it and figured out how to use it.
In a few instances it fails to find the object and just waits for next time. Not sure but would be good if it keep re-trying to find the object.
The other day had a weird occurrence. I set up the and started to execute the plan shown at the top of the one picture. When I went to view the in progress plan, it had a bunch of other objects listed at the end. Saw this when I first started and was wanted to watch the start of the plan. I saw that and was what is that, what plan is it trying to execute.

The device already shuts down at around 5%; it just needs to shut down towards the west instead of homing back to the home position. As for time inaccuracies I guess you might be thinking of a time change like Daylight Time Saving while shooting, right? The devices should already take account of that and even in the extreme case that the device suddenly gets an updated time, you can always skip that and point to the west no matter what?

I guess that the only issue left is a sudden compass calibration problem, but I would bet that the devices have a mapped starting (a.k.a. "home") position and know how many "steps" they have moved around their respective two axes. You could program the device to keep that in memory at startup and know that no matter what, west is at position X and Y and that is the position at the end of a planned shoot or at dawn.

I have had my S50 4 months and love it and love plan mode as I can set it up and go to bed and hopefully wake up to lots of captured minutes. However, Maybe last night it failed;. I opened the plan in Seestar and it is says "the observation failed" and below that it says "Goto Failure". Yes I would like to know why it failed so I can correct it for next time. However, I don't know where Goto failure is or is that just a line of code that doesn't work? Anyway it would be nice to know why it failed, target obstructed?, horizontal calibration fail?, auto focus failed. as I didn't see it as I was asleep.

Let me begin with that I really enjoy how easy it is to use the Seestar S50 and the app.

My problem and question deals with the "plan mode".

The steps that I take are: go to My Favorites and customize an object and its coordinates. The object that I'm interested in observing is DY Pegasi which is a short period EB. I give the object the proper name and enter coordinates as indicated on an AAVSO chart. The coordinates for this object are: RA 23:08:51, Dec +17:12:56 and these coordinates are J2000.

I then go to "plan" mode, give it a name, on the sky atlas go to objects, find DY Peg, then hit the button that says " Locate Target Position", the next screen displays the correct coordinates but when I hit the "add" button, the coordinates that are displayed are: 01h32m30s +17 04' 41".

So after my imaging session the object is not centered in the image.

Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do something different?

@Galilée : Bonjour, le plus simple pour vous est de définir un objet personnalisé et de le rentrer dans le mode plan. Pour DY Peg : RA : 23h 10m 52s ; Dec : 17° 13' 03"
Je vous ai donné les coordonnée en Jnow, le SEESTAR ne prenant pas les coordonnées en J2000. Vous pourrez maintenant observer cette étoile variable. La variation de 0.56 mag est faible mais peut être mesuré si vous êtes minutieux. Bonnes observation !!
