Proposal for a New Seestar Feature (SSD)

A very useful feature would be a file manager, allowing users to connect an SSD directly to the Seestar after a photography session and copy captured images to the drive based on categories. A great addition would be a “use only .FIT” option.

As an unscientific piece of data, I recently filled my S30 with observations. About 50GB worth of storage used. The jpg files constituted 6gb. I agree it would be nice to eliminate the generation of these interim JPG files, but not sure it would accomplish a lot from a storage perpective. Still, 6GB is about 12 per cent so its not nothing. Not sure how this would affect FIT file collection performance (that is, more time spent on generating FIT files)......

But having file management capability using external storage would be handy for times I'm without my laptop...

I always format the Seestar storage after downloading the data (probably a habit from photography). The idea is that after finishing a session, the user could connect an external SSD directly to the Seestar and transfer the files straight from the telescope.

Great idea to be able to connect an external SSD!

Disabling JPG file generation has been requested by many here (I am one of them) for a year now and ZWO support keep on indicating that they don't plan to implement that🙁

JPG files can still be generated, but they should be placed in a separate folder so that users who don’t need them can ignore them. This would prevent unnecessary clutter.

Support@Seestar As I have repeatedly indicated, this has been requested many times over the past year. Maybe not everyone wants it but many people do. I hope that is finally enough for this feature to be implemented.
