Tonight was the first night that I’ve used the Seestar S50 in EQ mode. Before performing polar alignment, I attempted to do a compass calibration. I was unable to do that. I turned the system off and one again. That did not help. This what I saw on the screen:

Log in to Seestar App with your email and submit the log according to this tutorial, https://h5.seestar.com/course/79221 explain the situation, and remember to check "Add log". How to send me the log ID? We need to check the cause of the problem.

I had shutdown the Seestar before sending a log so I reproduced the procedure of compass calibration today, inside. It had the same problem. I submitted that log. I hope this will help to investigate the problem. Gordon

I have come across the same problem, I thought i would try to see if calibration was possible in EQ mode, unfortunately with the same result, rotated the S50 & no green circle of progress appeared.

The-Patrician How many rotations did you make. It is taking me over 20 rotations to get a green circle when LEVEL, not at the EQ angle. Not sure how compass or level calibration work when angled at the EQ angle but seems SeeStar support expects that even though none of the printed documentation mentions that requirement.

Prior to the most recent update, it was much quicker. Lots of things changed in the last update making my S-30 nearly useless.

Even before this update I found that it took quite a lot of rotations to calibrate the compass if the main unit stays level. It goes much faster if you move it around in different orientations (as you'd calibrate the compass on a smart phone), but the resultant calibration is useless if you do that. Just gotta keep it level and be patient with it.

FWIW, I still haven't seen any evidence to suggest that the compass calibration is necessary in either ALT/AZ or EQ deepsky modes.
It's mainly used when trying to find a rough starting point to locate sun or moon.
