Is there a way to record lossy (not RAW) with this camera? I wish to retire it and use it wiyh my microscope and the resulted files are waaaay too big.

Maybe I wasn't clear; RAW files are HUGE. I want to know if there is a way to capture COMPRESSED files instead of uncompressed RAW... even with a third party app...

Tech@ZWO how to set for mp4 files? In ASI for Windows, I mean. I know that phone app saves lossy format, but I want to use my laptop with camera because of large display.

ursamajor I realized there was an error in my previous response. I’m sorry for the confusion.
ASIStudio supports only AVI in raw8, SER in raw16, it does not support mp4 format.
Most astronomy capture software supports only uncompressed format, becuase the users needs that to get higher quality images.
You may try other software which support Direct show driver that our camera supported to see if they have compressed format.

OK, no problem, I noticed that the Windows software doesn't support compressed files. But I tried to use phone app, which DO have mp4 format, but, unfortunatelly, the camera stucks, there are some fluctuations on image, then it frezes. Can ZWO technical support investigate this behaviour? I use a Motorola Edge 30 Fusion with USB3 OTG. I also used original cable and 3rd party cables, same issue.

ursamajor Thank you for your video, Sorry, ASICap Android version has been discontinued and removed from availability for one or two years. If you're interested, you might want to try some software that supports DirectShow drivers — some of them should offer compressed formats.

I understand. Can you please recommend me such software... I confess that I searched but couldn't find it.
