File transfer from a SeeStar s50 to a Windows 11 PC

When I accessed my SeeStar s50 using a USB cable, Windows said the drive needed to be formatted. This presumably is because the drive in the SeeStar is a Linux drive that Windows cannot access. I installed Diskinternals Linux Reader on my PC and it can recognize the SeeStar drive and I can transfer files. But I would like to have direct access. If I format the SeeStar drive using my PC, I will lose whatever data is on the SeeStar drive and it will be formatted in a way that Windows will access it like any other USB drive. Is this a safe thing to do?

If I format the Seestar drive using my Windows PC, are all the operating files of the SeeStar safe? Using Diskinternals Linux Reader, the Linux volume that it sees is 50.64 GB. I presume that all the operating system and other SeeStar software is on the rest of the SeeStar drive. Is that correct?

In reading through prior questions on this forum, I found an entry about formatting the Seestar's disk drive which stated that formatting can be done by the iphone app or by a PC connected by a USB cable. In either case system files are protected and the format should be in exFat so that the seestar drive can be read by a PC. Before formatting, I used the Diskinternals Linux Reader to copy all the data on the Seestar to my PC. Then I formatted the Seestar and copied the data back to the seeStar. So everything works fine now, and I don't have to use Diskinternals Linux Reader to access my data on the seeStar.

One thing I noticed: When I have connected my Seestar to my PC, the Seestar app is 'ghosted' on my iphone (it is frozen). If I press 'Only recharge' on my iphone, then the connection to the PC stops and I can use the app again.

PHKs50 I never formatted my S50 and I can access it over USB from my Windows 11 PC. These are all software issues and hard to diagnose and debug, for example, I have a Dwarf 3 I cannot access over USB no matter what from my laptop (the one that works with S50), but I can transfer files from the Dwarf 3 using a desktop Windows 11 PC. After spending a long time trying to solve these issues I learned to accept them as a fact of life and live with these limitations.
