Hi everyone,
First of all, apologies for not replying earlier. Between bad weather and a lack of free time, I haven’t been able to run tests or follow the thread as closely as I would have liked.
It hasn't reappeared since I replaced the power supply for the ASIAIR, which powers both my ASI 2600 and the 220MM Mini guide camera—although, of course, we can’t completely rule out the possibility that it might return. Yesterday, I had the mount tracking M16, very close to the meridian, and I didn’t encounter any issues at all. Then I switched to the Bubble Nebula and tracked it for 3 hours with 900-second exposures, again with no jumps. I have the feeling that the issue was caused by unstable or insufficient power, which may have caused the guide camera to freeze or stop guiding intermittently, resulting in those periodic RA errors.
Since I made that change:
I haven’t had any more RA jumps, even during long sessions.
I’ve tested targets in Sagittarius, Cygnus, Cassiopeia, and other regions of the sky—all with good results.
I also disabled the camera’s dew heater, just in case it was contributing to excessive power draw.
I’ve updated all software/firmware to the latest version, just to rule out any compatibility or bug-related issues.
If anyone else is still struggling with this, I’d suggest double-checking your power supply setup and overall power consumption. Sometimes the root of the problem is in the least expected place.
Clear skies!
