Yes I tried using 100 gain with the 585MC Pro for longer exposures under light polluted skies and it worked better in my opinion, even with the higher read noise (which is noticable on shorter exposures). As soon as you start going to 3 or 5 minutes the read noise was not so important anymore, but still a lower HCG point is better in my opinion.
I'm really curious what would happen if the HCG would be set at 100 gain.
The problem really is doing broadband and longer exposures. With a 533 I rarely have overexposed stars when doing Luminance, but with the 585 you are pretty much overexposed with anything after 2 minutes.
