My AM3 has been having trouble going to the home position. Earlier this summer (after an update accomplished through my ASIAIR) when I executed the go home command it turned the scope upside down - counterweight pointing skywards.
This is irksome, but not fatal, since I can manually slew to “home” - pointing north with counterweights down. And after doing a polar align, the go-tos are accurate. I’ve sync’s with the mount after a plate solve, but that has no effect on the go home functionality.
For a while, SkySafari 7 would not connect to the mount - the SS7 app simply crashed.
I did a complete reboot of my iPad, and that seems to have fixed the comms problem with SS7.
But now, when I issue a go home Command the mount circles continuously in RA or, at least it has done this through 720 degrees.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible a mechanical issue ( some gizmo inside the mount that indicates the mount is in the proper home position has come loose?
As it is, I can’t update the mount firmware (if I even need to) because it has to be in the home position for the update.
Al thoughts appreciated
