I have the ASI585mc Air. I've tried this on two Newtonian reflectors with a coma corrector. In neither does it guide well with the built in guide scope - including a Quattro200P that claims a full frame sensor image circle..
On the same rig (focal length 800mm), same time, same conditions, etc, I get sub 1 arcsec guiding with a 50mmf4 guide scope. However, when using the built in guide camera it achieves very poor guiding and also loses the guide stars often and get totally confused. I tried this with different focuses for the guide camera - to have it between "V-shaped" stars and "I-shaped" stars. But stars never seemed round... neither produce good guiding.
It's good I didn't disconnect my guide scope and camera, but the idea was to reduce weight and move this gear to another rig... Now I need both.
How do you suggest we guide using the Quattro 200P, for example, and the ASI585mc Air?
(incidentally, I also suggested a different rearrangement of guide camera vs main camera that probably would have made this problem not happen..)
