hlc This is great, thanks! I’m wondering how noticeable the improvement would be under Bortle 9 skies. That said, right now my main challenge is heavy cloud cover rather than light pollution.

Great to see you folks fixed and running 🙂.
Beta 2 is the same ol crap for me it doesn't create a folder for the images to be saved in.
Doesn't stack.
Doesn't save images to the folder it didn't create.
And i still get the not enough stars etc complaint.
I have a brick of a S50 android.
I see because of the ZWO tec uselessness that there are 9 of us that have become beta testers, no bcc.
Is this the same for you folks ?
I have asked twice for a file to reset my firmware to a previous version. I just get a zero reply for that. That cannot be too hard ZWO tecs ?
Anyway folks beta 2 is a bust for me, bugger 🙁

t5KI0Kra I'm just curious...do you know anyone with an IOS device that you could try running your S50 off? Is it possible the ZWO folks made a change in the IOS version that didn't cross over into the Android App?

t5KI0Kra oh dammit, sorry to hear that :-( By the time mine had finished calibrating last night the hole in the clouds had filled in, so I barely even had time to get a handful of frames in continuous mode - sorry for giving false hope! Skies are clear-ish here at the moment, but I suspect it will be raining again by the time it gets dark. Will definitely try again in 'live stack' mode if there's a clear patch though. I also used Android, although I have an ipad I can test with too. Very frustrating they can't/won't send you an older version so you can get up and running again, especially as they're now on holiday for a couple of weeks!
(I hadn't spotted the 'group' email - how rubbish!)

hlc Hi hlc. I sat outside on the concrete with mine last night waiting for holes in the clouds. Does anyone have clear skies these days. Its supposed to be summer here but the next few days temps are winter ones. Weird world. Its strange we cant get a patch to take us back to V2.7 at least it worked. I'm more than happy to keep helping with testing new apk's but at present it seems like we are putting bad code over bad code. Our scopes need some sort of reset. Oh well hopefully you and others get some clearish skies to try your see no stars out. Have a good one folks.

t5KI0Kra just coming out of winter here in the UK, and it's literally rained every day since 1st Jan! Amazingly I've just had a couple of hours of clear skies, so I'm making the most of grabbing M42 with my S30Pro before it disappears behind the house! I also checked the S50 earlier (using Android and Beta2 app) and it seemed quite happy with live stacking. No idea why yours is still bricked :-( Are you definitely on firmware v6.90? Have you tried uninstalling the app, then re-installing the beta version? Clutching at straws!

hlc Greetings from the opposite side of the planet in kiwiland. That was interesting, I just turned the beast on again and it asked to do a firmware update to 6.9. I've probably restarted the scope 4 or more times since putting beta 2 on and its never asked to do that. So yes now on beta 2 and firmware 6.9. Hopefully that becomes a YAY!! next time there are some holes in the clouds. Also just got a new email from ZWO, they are on holiday till Feb 26. So if this isnt a fix I guess it's time for a bit more patience. Hopefully clear skies folks

Success 🙂 Got up at 2am. There were a few holes in the clouds. The S50 worked well. Tried both 10 and 30 sec subs. The images looked good considering the clouds. No clipped histogram. Have a good one folks.

Good news! My S50 is no longer clipping data with the new 3.1.0 beta update, subs look nice and clean. It’s great to be able to image again!

Rob603 does anyone know when ZWO might release the update? or how can I get the beta?

shamrock at the moment they've only released the beta version to people who have contacted them directly. The last message I had, a couple of days ago, said "All our team members are currently on Spring Festival holiday, so please continue using this test version for now.We will resume work and release a new firmware version in March."
I think your best bet is to email them at support@seestar.com and ask them to send you the beta when they're back from holiday, so hopefully you'll get it before the final release some time in March.

Got the beta app and firmware updates and happy to report my S50 is back in business!

Also in the UK with rain every day this year but managed to get an hour or so. Not seeing any black pixel clipping. Thanks to all who pushed for this and ZWO for responding.

I got my S30 Pro friday, immediately did the compass and level calibration, but did not do the firmware update, i asked others about doing the update and most said go ahead , but since its gonna be pretty crappy here for next week at least i will wait and see how the new one works out. really looking forward to first light !
