So, I do feel like I got a lower number of rejections, yeah. whereas with V3.0.2 I got about, say, 100 rejections for every 450 good frames, I got about 40 rejections for 450 good frames last night (not exact numbers, I'm just remembering vague numbers. I will take more careful note tonight.)

I have a theory that the bad, clipped data in the subframes causing excessive noise messed with the firmware. It might have seen the noise and that triggered some form of threshold that caused the higher rejection, and that caused a higher number of image drops in v3.0.x which seems to no longer be the case in v3.1.0 b01... but I could have just gotten lucky. Clouds-willing, I will be able to do some more shoots tonight to see for sure. I only had about an hour last night...

I am really hoping I am not just an isolated case.

Umbra Yep, have emailed ZWO support.
Also, I checked earlier and it looks like it did actually save one .fit file after all (when it was in 'continuous' mode rather than live stacking), but it's completely black/empty. No data in the histogram. Took a photo in scenery mode no problem (that I can see).

ok yeah, that's a problem they gotta fix asap. This beta does have a few bugs (I was hoping it'd stop at the "little" bugs), but yours is by far the worst one and not "little" at all.

Got some time out imaging with the Beta - I only updated my S30 just in case there was a problem with the firmware. Did some checking overall of the images I got in Siril and pix insight and the ones I captured last night seem alight, no bad pixels or goofed up pedestal values evident.

I've not used the seestar in a bit since we have had pretty terrible weather since before Christmas (Last night I sat in -4F to set up the S30) but I shot M42 just b/c, well its obvious what its supposed to look like. First shot had some green cast to it. When I did the AI denoise, the color shifted very much to blue which I have not see happen previously in the app. I'll upload some screenshots I took them on my iPad, I'm going to stack it first on the PC to see if it's just some frames shooting through the tree branches that is throwing stuff off.

Nothing else stood out as being off with the app but I only used it for a few hours. I've never used it on the iPad before, but they could use some feedback on it, I hate how it flips between portrait and landscape mode (I have my iPad orientation locked to landscape) Depending on if I am setting up a plan or navigating the catalog its portrait, then acquiring images its landscape.

So I thought I would try something a bit different. I uninstalled the beta apk and reinstalled the 3.0.2 but it still had the firmware update from the beta version on the scope. I got a different result. This time the tablet screen didn't black out when it started taking images. But it still wouldn't stack images, still the "not enough stars" message. And it still didnt create a folder on the seestar or the tablet for the object or save any images. So it's still basically a brick. It's an S50 android system.

I actually got an email from them indicating not to install the current beta b/c there was a bug, a new version should be coming out shortly according to them. Seemed like it was maybe related to the S50 but didn't provide a lot of details

Just tested my S30 with the new beta firmware 6.84 and there's a lot of improvement. Can confirm that black level issue is no more - the whole image has a nice uniform background without any black pixels present at all, zero of those can be found.
Here's a crop of overstretched 10s exposure with LP filter on.

wVU1j6V6 good to hear the S30 is fixed, but I'm confused about the image you've shared - it looks like it still has the problem? Bizarrely my new S30pro was fine initially, but even though I haven't updated the firmware since I got it, it's now showing the clipping problem! (I was using the Android beta app with it though) I've just updated it via the iOS beta, so will see what happens if it ever stops raining here.

hlc No, the problem is gone for good with the beta firmware, like I said in my last comment.

The image he shared was an overstretched image, so it looks good, really. if it was the clipped, bad version, those dimmer pixels would have been black, not shades of grey.

Umbra Yes. Stretching to maximum makes 100% of pixels white, like those were prior to December 3.0.0 update.
Yesterday I've tested it for several hours in temperatures between -10С to -15C and still no issues were present. So low temperatures were not the issue whatsoever, it seems.

Question for those that have tested the beta version (3.1.0-Beta2) for the S50 on Android: does it resolve the aforementioned issues without causing new ones?

oRX2hR4h I've installed beta2 (firmware 6.90), but likely to be Friday night before I can test, unless I can find a tiny break in the clouds... Sounds very promising though!

Had a tiny break in the clouds tonight, and managed to grab a handful of subs with the S50 and beta2/firmware 6.90. Happy to report the clipping problem does appear to be fixed! Ran out of clear sky to test stacking, but I'm pretty confident that will be OK now.

Also tried the S30pro, and even though it had totally clouded over by that point, it did save a couple of subs and the histogram looks fine.

ooh, the S50 is usable again! That just makes me happy outright.

And on my side with an S30, the beta02 seems to be pretty good. It fixed another minor issue I had too, so eyo, all seems good! Now we just have to await for the public release (unless they do a third beta), but do give Zwo your feedback if you have any issues. they have been really good with communicating via email so far. at least for me.

hlc This is great, thanks! I’m wondering how noticeable the improvement would be under Bortle 9 skies. That said, right now my main challenge is heavy cloud cover rather than light pollution.
