After numerous failures, disconnects, and other problems with the 2.5.1 version I finally just went ahead and reverted my firmware and went back to 2.3.3. I tried using @Luxo 's method of reverting to v2.5, but the XAPK file found in his unofficial manual link wouldn't work and when I connect my ipad mini to my PC to use iMazing they want a registered license ($50 a year!) to access other versions. Luckily a person on cloudynights had the 2.3.3 APK on a google drive folder that's still available for download, I also put a copy on my google drive if people need access to a clean APK for android. ZWO should be ashamed of pushing this kind of stuff out, they'll be lucky if they avoid pushing a version so faulty it causes serious problems (like bricking hardware).

Yes you do have to pay for iMazing to use it properly.
There is no other way to downgrade on iOS/iPad/MacOS.

It's pretty clear ZWO do not take a rig out under the sky, with a scope, mount and camera and test the basic functions to see if they work reliably before releasing an update. We are the guinea pigs.

Buy iMazing
Practise downgrading to 2.3.3 or 2.5 so you know how to do it at the scope the field, if you have to when the current release breaks.

Sharing APK files is very limited - I think maybe 5 or 6 users max can use it. its not a panacea for a large number of users.

NB I have purchased a spare ASIAir which has 2.3.3 in case they brick the current version.

I still dont really understand why you bothered to post this - I tried similar a year when ZWO released the broken 2.4, but then realized that at most 6 people can use your APK file - this is restricted by Apple, and there really is no way round that.

NB Sharing/installing software from an untrusted source - Google of all places - is fundamentally contrary to all modern cyber security practices, and inherently risky. That is exactly how malware and spyware are spread.

Then someone discovered iMazing, which provides a far better way for everyone to downgrade - legitimately and safely.

As an insurance policy against ZWO bricking your device on the night you want to use it, the cost of iMazing is peanuts.

It's for Android
It's the APK file I had downloaded from ZWO's software page. I have kept quite a few of the APK files going back to 1.9.
It's my own google drive folder. I know what's there and where I got the files from. And I really don't need a lecture about security.
You don't have to use it.

Also, not sure where you're getting that "6 people " info from.

I know you know your stuff and many appreciate what you do - but do you have to be so arrogant?

Ah sorry I thought it was for iOS - sharing the installers from Apple's App Store can be coaxed into working but only for 6 other persons. Not relevant to Android.

Sorry re the security - I know some younger ones didn't go through the era of sharing floppy disks, and the malware that crippled systems - Blaster and WannaCry....
