I've just packed everything away, so I can't really check the step size right now. I would assume it's identical to the step size that the rig imaged with all night after I rolled back to the older firmware/software.

It's not that the focus routine struggled to find focus. It never even started shooting. It froze once I pressed the exposure start tab.

In regards to the guiding image being pretty weak compared to the capabilities of the guide cam. Here's a couple of shots at 1 second exposure and 0 gain through a Red filter. Same target and only moments apart. Dark subtraction turned off.

I don't know. It looks like there should be a few more than 3 suitable guiding stars in that guide screen.

I'm curious--why would you use zero gain on a guider? Especially with a filter.

Detect tab in action last night. The countdown kept going until I got bored and cancelled it.

[unknown] Ive noticed that the AF/PA/PS routines occasionally "runaway" like this ... not something I have experienced to the degree that I have observed with the V3 beta f/w ... I wonder if there is some common code shared across those functions?

If, for some strange reason, you really wanted to use Sirius/Canopus as a guide star ?
You can't reduce the exposure enough to stop clipping a 1st mag star.

There are plenty of more suitable stars in the sky, though.

latest build of the app and f/w is a complete "dumpster fire"!

nothing about my rig has changed, same scope,mount, location, 2600MCAir, CAA etc ...
the ASI220mini guider is not longer present/detected by the app or f/w ... the only option is the 2600Air this has
changed since last app & f/w ... previously there was a distinct guide camera (220mm) detected - no longer!
wifi downloads are now about 1/10th of what they were previously ...
no surprise here - guiding calibration wont start
auto focus - even with stars present in the fov AF cannot find a star to calibrate on...

so build 21 and its f/w is a total failure for me!

nothing changed physically, only the app and f/w ...

Larry.Cable reverted to 2.5.2/42.97 and finally got AF, PA, and guide calibration...

I'm thinking it's bad timing and hardware failure, but wondering if it's a problem with build 722 I just grabbed tonight. After shooting about 30 minutes, the cooling unit (TEC) quit working. Fan works, swapped out power cords, power supplies, bypassed ASIAir to no avail. I guess I should test with an older build, but I suspect my 1 year old 2600MC-Duo had a failure. My last 10 shots lost!

R0k9pZfT try reverting to 2.5.2 - build 21 & its f/w were a disaster for me - so I reverted back to 2.5.2
and 42.97 and everything is working as expected...

I realize that the AA+ has nothing directly to do with cooling, except maybe poor USB communication. I'll downgrade tomorrow. No such issue with build 720, but I won't know if it was 722 until then....

Couldn't wait. Got out of bed to do the downgrade. As suspected, not the problem. Upside is due to the time zone differences, I already heard back from ZWO support and they're already sending the part to the US repair center! But this is no longer beta related, so you can all relax since my bevy of bug reports is about to come to a screeching halt!

I never would normally. Not for guiding at least, and I definitely wouldn't be shooting M 83 next to the Moon while trying to crash the Beta.

I tried all three standard gain settings last night to play around with the results. 220 as main cam vs 220 as guide cam. 0 gain showed that there are plenty of stars available in the worst case scenario with basic LRGB filters on a Duo cam. (FL was around 860 with a 120 refractor).

The 290 thru an OAG is running at the moment. Plenty of guide stars as expected.
I just flicked it over to zero gain and it seems to pick up a decent amount of stars compared to a similar exposure when used as the main camera with 0 gain.

another issue I encountered last night was that when switching screens using the device icons at the top of the screens some of the device dialogs would not render completely, in particular the "wifi" dialog was empty.

To me, that's indicative of a busy cpu, or some device not responding, and the 1/10th transfer speeds over wifi
would also be indicative of that also...

anyway reverted back to 2.5.2 and was able to get some useful imaging done, not sure when I will attempt to use
3.0 Beta again at this point, as there are no features that would make it worthwhile to risk the upgrade again for now.

There is an extremelly annoying bug in the current beta:

When the mount slews close to meridian (at least on the North side, so for example with circumpolar sources), sometimes the mount gets trapped in an infinite loop of meridian flips. It goes east, solves, flips going west, solves, flips going east. Quite crazy.

I had a similar problem in the southern skies. My mount (AM3) flipped perfectly, got to the exact coordinates, but just sat there on the plate solve. Mount was making a clicking sound once every 10 seconds or so. Finally gave up. Sent the logs in.

It would be nice to see an option to do a flip manually and the ability to set it to flip X minutes early. I don't like going to something near zenith and having to wait 5-10 minutes longer so it will flip.

One request,

You should add some option to specify the filter to use when plate solving. In my case, with a filterwheel, sometimes SII, OIII and Ha take forever to plate solve, while Luminance is almost inmediate. I could well flip to Luminance remembering the previous filter, plate solve (without changing focus) and move back to the filter I was without needing to refocus. This would make the whole thing much more stable.

elakrab +1 although I think you'd also need filter focus offsets in addition to obviate the need for AF before and after rotating to/from the designated PS filter ...
