Ok had the big rig out tonight with 3.0.0 for a few hours. Clear sky, calm conditions with good seeing and low dew. Moon was 70% so just a night for testing, no serious imaging.
Wifi is unreliable - and it’s the app that is buggy - frequently lost the connection, the app freezes and the fastest way to recover is to reboot the phone and start over.
Guiding is less definitely accurate than earlier versions.
Using 3.0.0 the best I could get with guiding was 0.6…0.9 arcsec rms using the ASI220 in the 2600MC DUO at 3000mm focal length.
After resetting the firmware and installing 2.3.3 the guiding was 0.3…0.5 arcsec rms.
Installed 2.5.2 and upgraded firmware to match, the guiding was again 0.3…0.5 arcsec rms.
Switched to an ASI120MM Mini in a 70mm APO, F = 475mm as the guide scope, and repeated with 3.0.0, 2.3.3 and 2.5,2. Similar results.
Those with small scopes and average conditions, arcsec guiding is ok, and they probably won’t notice, but with a big scope it’s not good enough to use.
NB updated the manual to 1.10 today.
