ASI1600MC-Cool ASCOM Driver

Installed the - ASICAMERA ASCOM SETUP V1.0.2.5 (ASCOM Camera driver) - from the site.

When I look at Sequence Generator Pro to select the Camera from the drop down...there are TWO drivers showing up for the 1600 as shown below. Is this a bug with the installer? I should only see ONE here to select, right?

there are 2 drivers because some app want to use 2 ASI cameras at the same time

one for guiding and one for imaging

but ASCOM allow only one camera running

that's why we provide 2 ASCOM driver

just select either one you want

That makes perfect sense now that you mention it!

Would be nice to have the word 'driver' fixed to have a capital 'D'. It would then appear as 'Driver' in the UI.

Better yet, it should be:

ASI Camera (1)

ASI Camera (2)

ASI CMOS Camera (1)

ASI CMOS Camera (2)

Would make it infinitely more understandable.

I also have an ASI 1600MC.

When I use the ASCOM Drivers in Nebulosity 4.1, it closes down when I attempt an exposure.

I am having great difficulty with the ASI1600MM ASCOM driver in The SkyX. I'm running Windows 10, Ascom 6.2, the latest daily build of The SkyX, and the latest Ascom driver from the ZWO site. I am trying to use the camera for autoguiding in The SkyX.

I am running the camera under the Autoguiding tab. I can find the camera and set it up OK, but when running continuous 1 second exposures the camera will stop downloading the image to the screen and hang after a random number of images have successfully been downloaded. I need to actually disconnect and reconnect the camera USB cable to bring the download function back. It will run again for a while and then stop and hang. This occurs while connected to either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0, although USB 2.0 seems more stable (i.e., takes a longer time to fail). This even happens when I reduce the frame down to a 1/4 sub-frame and 4X4 binning.

Some other funny stuff that may be of help:

While I can adjust the USB speed slider under the Ascom driver properties menu, it always shows that the value has returned to the default when I leave and re-enter the properties menu.

The camera immediately hangs at the image download if I select an exposure of less than 1 second. 1 second or greater exposure time will work (at least until it hangs as discussed above) but 0.9 second or less will immediately hang on the first image.

Any help would be appreciated.

you need to adjust "USB Traffic" lower to get image shorter than 1s

for the hang problem, we will release a new ASCOM driver

Hey Sam. I attempted first light of my new ASI1600MM-Cool. I had a lot of issues getting short exposures to work. Lowering the USB helped as well as a few other adjustments in APT suggested by their forum. I am still having a lot of issues with all exposures. There are a lot of times the image will just say "busy" in APT. I am also having a number of images that look like they were not downloaded all the way. Part of the image is there, then from a random point on, it's black with no data.

I am running USB2 until I can afford a new computer.

I see there is a new ASCOM update that I just downloaded. Hopefully that fixes things.

There also seems to be some fighting between my SSAG and the ASI camera. It seems when one is working, the other doesn't work very well. I tried putting them on separate USBs but that still did not fix the issue.

I installed the new ASCOM, still not working. Take an image, APT shows it saying busy. Now USB keeps kicking the camera off.

It seems the same problems are happening in astrolive, sharpcap and APT. The camera will take an image but it never downloads.

I also tried on my Mac side with Nebulosity 4. It just crashes the program every time I try to connect to the camera.

weird, can you test with SharpCap at first try small resolution?set the "Turbe USB" to lowest

and you'd better connect the camera directly to you computer to test

Saving as fits it worked with a smaller resolution and at full resolution. It's very inconsistent. Sometimes things work, then it stops working and restarting doesn't fix it. Then when I try again a few hours later, it'll work for a bit, then stop.

Not sure if it matters, but I am running Windows via bootcamp on my MacBook Pro. I know at one time ZWO and Apple didn't work well together.

I tried to use the Mac with Nebulosity and it just crashed the program.
