New version of ZWO ASI1600MM-COOL?

Hi guys, hope everyone is well. I just wanted to confirm something before I make a purchase of this CMOS.

I've heard there's a new version of this camera now. Version 3 to be exact. The first version had ST4, the second version has the USB Hub, and now version 3? Can anyone confirm this please? Thanks

What are the difference to v2 and will the mono-cooled version also be upgraded soon?

I think our V3 already fixed protect window dew problem as the cover is hotter than before

Does that mean that the protective cover in front of the sensor is heated? Can you elaborate?

the protect window is heated by the heat sink

Thank you Sam. Is this something new that started with V3 cameras?

I think a lot of potential customers (like myself) will be happy to hear about this fix and see the results of your experiments.

Although maybe those of us who bought the previous versions might be concerned that there are so many "fixes" and two new versions less than a year after it was released, especially the potential issue of moisture on the sensor window. Will you be offering a modification service to those with the old versions?

Got my CMOS camera on Friday and am glad i got the v3 camera (First thing i checked). But i too would like to see this experiment you talk of Sam :)

From the back, v1 is on the right and v2 is on the left

Thanks souls33 just had a quick check and it looks like mine, which arrived on 4th Jan from FLO, is version 3 as it has the small studs on the front as indicated in your post

you wrote that V3 has now "fixed cover with screws and added air socket" and i also see that you changed the round cover of the front windows, but can you please explain why you changed that?

I have several issues with my 1600mm-c and want to know if the V3 could solve These.

The Problems are:

- Dew on the front window

- Dust particles from the drying tablets on the sensor

- May be a tilting Problem (in Investigation but it seems so)

- Strange Patterns in the flats and also in the lights when dithering wasn't used

(but i think i will start another Forum entry about that)

So when the V3 could solve These Problems the answer to the question of Notty:

"... Will you be offering a modification service to those with the old versions?"

is also relevant to me - in i think the answer is still open...

I don't think V3 can solve all the problems but new version is always better

- Dew on the front window

v3 can transfer the heat from the heat sink to the front window better

but it still cannot solve dew problem if there is no heat in the heat sink

so cool the camera deeper is more effective to heat the protect window

another way add one dew heater to the camera body

we can provide a special discount for all old 1600 user who wish to upgrade

but there is no modification service as the full camera body changed.

Sam, as usual this information is really useful.

I do have a few follow up questions related to this camera, what are the best practices to keep the camera in proper working order for a long time and potentially keep it dust/dew free. Does it require regular maintenance? if so what would be that?

I ask all this because i really keep my belongings in a nice working order and in mint condition.

So I was just told by ZWO over email that I would have to sell my camera, and they would give me a $200 coupon towards buying a new one. How am I supposed to sell my now rendered defective and obsolete camera on the used market and get any kind of money for it? In under the course of a year, you fixed some pretty fatal flaws in the hardware, but left us early adopters behind with no path to make it right. I would gladly buy and install a kit if you offered one, but you don't. If I have to sell my camera to buy another one that doesn't fog up and put dusty crystals all over the AR window, I will just buy a QHY163m. Lousy way to treat your customers.
