How do I connect the Asiair to my Celestron AVX? What specific connector cable? What port on AVX? From USB on Asiair? I would not use the hand controller if using skysafari? Thanks

I got the same mount. Just connect ASIAIR using mini USB port from handbox. Once you enter ASIAIR app and got connected, select "Celestron Nexstar" option, and done.

So the HC is connected to the AVX and use the mini USB on HC to connect to ASIAIR? Then Control AVX by iPad Sky safari? The HC is just a pass thru?

Yes. Just do it selecting Celestron Nexstar from ASIAIR app.

Dont forget you must making polar alignment before using ASIAIR. I sugest using a reticle eyepiece in my case.

I amusing the ASIair eith an AVX and have no problems. Do your polar alignment and star calibration on the mount first, then plug in the mini USB cable to the bottom of the hand control and power up the ASIair. Select Celestron Nexstar as your mount. I use the iPad version of SkySafari Pro 6 and it can connect to the mount through the ASIair and control it with a tap. Thr plate solving routine in ASIair seems to work well and after solving you can “sync” the plate solve back to the mount to fine tune your star alignment. Be aware that sometimes, when restarting, the app sometimes forgets the equipment so be sure to go through the camera, filter wheel, and mount settings to be sure everything is connected. I a, still working on the guiding routine but that should get worked out soon.

Ops! Why? Does the polar alignment in ASIAIR not work with AVX? I love it on my current SkyWatcher AZ GTI. Is it also needed to do start alignment? I hope not... I stopped dealing with initial start alignment on the SkyWatcher AZ GTI since I started using ASIAIR. It would be great to keep this on AVX

Quick Align or One-Star Align is required by Celestron Mount which helps to init the Encoder in mount. Hardware limitation.

I have an AVX and use a slightly different workflow. I have everything on but the mount (and have the HC disconnected) which leaves the telescope disconnected in the app. I do a polar alignment, then return the mount to "home". At that point, I turn on the mount, set the time/date, and tell the mount to "use previous alignment". Then I use the app to connect to the mount. My first step is to tell the scope to go to a bright star (lately Vega). it will be in the general area, but not too close. Then, I use plate solve in the app, so the scope knows where it is pointing, and I sync it and go-to to that star (which I use for fine focusing). Now I am set. Hope this workflow helps. It is similar to what others have suggested and, as I understand it, represents an issue with the AVX.

PA not working on my Celestron mount.
I have a new CGX mount and not having any success polar aligning the mount (not working for my AVX mount either).
I have an ASI AIR PLUS that I've had for quite some time,
I deleted the app on iPad (late version), and uploaded the latest version of ASIAIR (Mini, 4th edition).
Aside from PA, everything else with the app works fine.
Prior to PA, I'll conduct a successful Plate Solve, and click on the "Sync Mount" option.
I then get a message "Sync Out of Range-ASI AIR doesn't support to sync the mount within 5 degrees of the NCP". I click "dismiss" and proceed to PA.
When I attempt to PA, the mount will slew to the west, approx 60 degrees,
I get the attached screen shot and the PA process won't proceed any further, so I need to cancel out of the process.
I manually align the and PA mount and have no guiding issues.
I used to be able to PA my AVX mount but no longer can, nor can I PA my new CGX mount.
Any recommendations, or will the PA function not work with Celestron mounts.
