Hi,
This is my first entry in the forum, I have been reading for a long time, both looking for solutions to some issues as well as to read about other user experiences and recommendations.
I have had my ASI 120 MC for a couple of years (a bit more I would dare saying), I initially used it for imaging but I have been using it for guiding for some time now. It clearly does not have any type of warranty anymore (I understand that 100%)
A couple of weeks ago I lent it to a friend to try his hand with planetary imaging, according to him he had some driver issues and was not able to use it, but I suspect he tried to update the firmware and failed.
Now, when I connect the camera to the PC or MAC (I was able to use both successfully before) it only shows up as unknown device (the MAC not even that, it just give me a DEVICE LOCATION ID)
I have tried pretty much everything I could find on the forum, from uninstalling the drivers and installing them again, installing older versions, to flashing the firmware using the bootloader driver, but I have failed, the FWTool does not detect the camera and I cannot apply the firmware.
The camera seems to reset every few minutes (so it stops being detected, then it is detected again).
I opened the camera casing hoping I would find a jumper that allows me to reset it. but I cannot see any.
To me it is quite clear the problem is the Cypress USB Controller, but I am not sure if software or hardware.
Do you have any suggestions ?
