Lain402 the rub is that if they don’t sort out the Nikon issue I would have to buy a ZWO camera but I’m loathe to do that out of principle so I would probably have to get rid of the ASIAIR and go back to my laptop using sharpcap etc!!!

Same here ! If they don’t fix this I’ll sell my ASIAIR Pro and send back the new ASIAIR Plus I bought few days ago. It’s not an easy decision but this story is too long now. I was so excited being able to use my new Nikon and it was a long wait.

Let’s give them some time and see what they will do. They can’t just let this issue last for ever, there will be more Nikon shooters to post here when they’ll realize they camera is not working properly with the ASIAIR as advertised. Many astrophotographers still use Nikon cameras, it would be a bad decision in terms of brand image to just abandon the support of this camera.

Astro-photography market is not that big, if I have to switch to another brand, I’ll never forget it and I’ll make sure my astro-fellows will know what to expect from ZWO.

les_b They won’t reply. If you spend more time on the forum, you’ll realize how they just ignore tons of interesting features requests written by more active users here (Chen…) .They are too busy sending free ASIAIR PLUS to YouTubers to satisfy those who pays cash their products. I believe they’ll eventually fix this issue but they won’t spend a penny renting a Nikon Z6-II before more customers start to complain, write reviews and publish videos on YouTube. I’m waiting my PLUS to be delivered then I’ll review it with my Z6-II on YouTube😈

i think it is absolutely appalling that they can market a product with no regard for support of products they claim are supported by there products! It really leaves a bad taste and if I had known they were going to behave like this I would never have bought the AAP, if they don’t react soon I’m going to start posing in all the Astro groups on Facebook about the shoddy support, I don’t really want to do that as I really like their products but massively let down by the terrible service!

les_b Yes I did, same problem : lag lag and lag again. Beside the add of an antenna and few useless features ( power monitor…) the new iteration is the same as the PRO.

Lain402 I thought that may be the case!, it’s so frustrating and disappointing that we can’t use our cameras, really considering getting rid of my ZWO stuff and going to Altair and sharpcap!!

I am semi-successful using my Z6 (3.31) with the current firmware (1.7) on a AAP. Functions like auto-focus and plate solving are working great. However, with just a USB connection to the Z6, any preview or autorun exposure over 1 second will hang. It shows a status of 'shooting' that never completes. I've tried a lot of different camera settings trying to make this work with no change.
As a workaround, I've added a standard remote release cable along with the USB cable. Whenever I'm in preview or autorun mode, if the camera displays "PC" control, I power the camera off and back on to put the camera back in normal camera mode. From that point on, I can do previews and autoruns just fine. Scheduled auto-focus in the middle of an autorun session work as expected too. If I then trigger a go-to, this will place the camera into PC-control mode and I have to do my camera reset again. I should add that powering the camera off and on will be detected by the AAP which requires re-selecting the camera in the setup.

I just thought I'd add my experience while waiting for a true fix.

I recently received my ASI AIR Plus, controlled through a Samsung tablet, and am having a strange issue with both my Nikon Z50 and Z6 (the only cameras I currently have). If I set the ISO in the camera to 6400, or any other high value, any exposure over 1 second defaults to ISO200. This is what shows in the EXIF data for images stored in the camera.; images stored in the ASI AIR Plus are .fit type and I don't see an ISO value with these. I need some help!

For those who are wondering, I just tested the APP/+ new firmware [v1.8-8.83] with my Nikon Z6II.

Same as described months ago: Extremely slow, menus get stuck when you connect the camera. You still have to wait a long time before it actually start taking the image. In short: they haven't fixed anything !!!

After almost 3 years using DSLR with the ASIAIR, my understanding is that ZWO is tricking its customers into letting them buy the AAP/+ only to find that it doesn't support advertised DSLR. Some of them, unable to wait for an hypothetical update, will end up buying a ZWO camera. Well thought !
