Please add the ability to type filter names in lieu of the default filters. My planetary EFW has two different IR wavelengths plus CH4 and UV, none of which are options to choose in the filter wheel settings. It's a shame to have to remember "6" is CH4, etc., when it could be embedded in the filename and FITS header.

hello,
Q1:we will convey this require(Custom filter name) to our R&D
Q2 The filter name (member)is embedded in the file name on asiair, why do you want to add the filter message in the FITS header?

ASIAir also already embeds the filter name in the FITS header, which is extremely useful when processing. Filter is a standard 8-character field in the FITS header. I'm just asking to be able to specify what gets embedded in the header and the filename.

PixInsight for example automatically sorts the files into different processing groups based upon type (Light, Dark, Flat, etc.) exposure duration and filter name. I don't want to lose that.

When I do a capture using Ekos I can specify those filter names. ASIAIr however limits me to a small list of choices that doesn't include common filters.

See my example below where you can see I have Light subframes shot in R, G, B, Ha, Oiii, Sii, and "8" because I couldn't specify the UHC filter I used. I have similar flats from that session as well. Also "8" looks a lot like "B" on my screen so that could lead to operator error. 🙂

As noted, now that ASIAir supports video for planetary imaging I will have a similar problem where I can't specify my CH4, UV, or either of my two different wavelength IR filters (656nm and 850nm). I'd love to be able to type in "IR850" in ASIAir.

Also my related post about saving different equipment profiles in ASIAir comes into play here. I switch between two different EFWs and cameras for DSO vs Planetary imaging. Editing the filter names each time I switch is not great.

+1 on this request. I am currently using a ZWO filter drawer for a narrowband filter and it would be very useful to be able to set the filter name or even be able to have the option to chose a filter in the app. This would put the filter information in the fits header and help with post processing.

Tech@ZWO - that’s with the EFW. But if one uses a filter manually, how can we specify the filter name in the shoot?

Tech@ZWO Has this ever been implemented? I, too, am looking for a way to manually specify a filter without using an EFW and have that added to the FITS header. As explained before, when processing the images many processing software read the filter name from the FITS header which helps a lot when loading the lights. Can you please let us know if this feature has been implemented and, if not, if this will be added?

This seems like such an easy fix to allow any 1-4 characters to be used in the filter name, not just the single letter in the drop down menu when using the EFW.
I have a filter drawer and have to add my filter name after the object name field on the shooting schedule page in Autorun. Like M33HaO3 per image below

And I sometimes forget to do it.

Thank you for your suggestion, i conveyed to our engineer.
