How to connect the new Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro to ASIAIR?

Moodtastic Its there anyway you can backup your updated OS and upload to a cloud drive so I can download?

I have tried 4 different software on both PC and Mac trying to restore the img so far has ended in failure, the restore SD card shows 60 files and it will not boot. I have no mount control until I can install the new image to a SD card.

Skylab1 I went the EQMOD cable route set baud rate to 9600 and it worked fine.

I just got a new EQ6R Pro mount and initially could not connect with my Asiair Pro. Downloaded the image at the top of this thread. On first boot, it forced me to update the firmware after which I could immediately connect to the mount at 115200 baud. Better yet, I've been having problems with my Nikon Z6 camera and the Asiair Pro. The updated firmware fixed that problem as well. Thanks for support, ZWO!

So, this fix no longer works with version 1.8 of the APP for iOS, which I was forced to update. My EQ6-R is no longer able to connect. Thanks ZWO...

@Chamberlindj - I have 1.8 for the past 3 beta’s and have no issues connecting to and using my EQ6R-Pro so I don’t think it’s an image issue.

I have on occasion experienced strange issues with devices no longer working on certain USB ports, not sure why. The work around is to just switch to a different USB port and it should detect and work.

Kring Can you confirm how you are connecting? With the previous version, I was able to connect via USB directly to the mount, with a standard USB Type B cable, from any of the USB ports on the ASIAIR Pro. Are you using an EQMOD cable with FTDI chip to the HC port?

Using 1.8 final and have no issues connecting the AAP/AA+ to my EQ6-Rs via USB A/B.

Hi...I am a total noob so please forgive me if I ask stupid to you questions.
I have been collecting my astro equipment and nearly ready to get it all together. I bought a Saxon AZ EQ6 GTI mount with the USB port that is about 18months old. I just today got the latest ASIAIR Plus...do I still have to update the SD card with this software to drive the mount?

I have a new EQ-6-r-pro. The ASIAIR pro has the last OS (updated from the iPhone) and I cant’ conect with the usb-A usb-B cable. Mount’s firmware is not up to date but I have a M1 MacBook and I dont know how to make the upgrade. (Does not Word from parallels). Any help? Thanks

i can't believe this actually worked. This version of the OS should be listed on the main support site! The other night, i had literally five minutes to capture Comet Leonard, as it was low on the horizon. When i turned on the ASIair Pro, it pulled a Windows-style update on me that ate up 3 minutes. With two minutes left, i discovered the EQ6-R was no longer recognized! LOL. Oh my. The travails of the last-minute astrophotographer. Anyway, very happy that this fix worked.

I have an ASIAir Plus and a new EQ6-R Pro. I connected them using an EQMOD cable and had partial success. It recognizes the mount and will goto any object I select, but when I try to manually slew the mount nothing happens. I also connected instead with a usb-a to b cable and had the same result. Will installing the modified OS help with this problem?

akkanman it’s likely your speed is low, I think default is fairly minimal slewing speed. Can you use the slider to bump the speed up and try that. The slider is in the main view the pop-out from the top right.

BTW you should only be using the USB cable, I don’t recommend EQMOD when you have high speed USB.

The modified OS is only to make a connection, it’s basically a driver update. If you are able to connect at all then you are fine from the update perspective.

Kring Thanks for the reply. I eventually noticed the slewing speed was at the lowest speed so I changed it to the various faster speeds but still no luck.

Hi everyone, I have an AZEQ6 mount with usb type B port. When I connect it to the asiairpro it tells me that the connection has failed because I need to align a star first and that the firmware of the mount is higher than 3.39 however I have already updated the mount and its motors a few days ago. Is it always necessary to perform the alignment so that the mount recognizes the asiairpro? I tried with the baud value 9600 and 11500 and it does not work. Any help would be appreciated

Canarisky I need to align a star first

Some mounts are not communicative with the computer until after you do a star alignment (predominately mounts that don't have encoders; since they don't know where they are pointed).

Go to the hand controller, follow the mount's manual and do at least a one-star alignment, and after that try to connect ASIAIR to the mount.
