mj972 Did you ever get your mount to connect? I tried reading through all of the posts and never saw where you did. I had connection problems with my Skywatcher until I finally saw where someone said to use the USB connection from your mount to the ASIAIR, forget about the hand controller. Select EQMOD and 11520 baud rate. Forget about all that 2,3 star alignment mess. Immediately my mount was cooperating with the ASIAIR, obeying all commands. My hand controller is staying on my shelf. Let me know if this works for you.

Horsehead Yes, I did. My mount doesn't support EQMOD, so your way is a no go. Thanks anyway!

Chen, just letting you know I followed all your advice about plate solving and it is generally working for me now. Longer exposures and improving SN ratio seemed to be key along with good alignment (some SE mount issues I need to work through). Thanks.

Has any solution been found to this issue? I just purchased and received my Celestron CGEM II mount and the ASIPro. I’ve tried everything recommended in this thread. AsiAir still does not see or recognize the mount.

From what I know. In the next app update the problem will be resolved. It pertains to the new CGX mounts. I have the EAF focuser and it has problems as well in this version of the app. I was told the focuser issue should be resolved in the version of this new app as well. It is supposed to be released this month. That is what I know but I do not guarantee it to be correct. I am waiting as well. Full moon right now. You can do a manual plate solve with the ASIAIR Pro and that is about it. It will not connect. Then do a multi star align with the CGX and that will work. The star aline takes a while. I am hoping right along with you. I am pretty sure you still have to connect through the hand controller.

If you are willing to use Beta software, ZWO has already posted the Beta v1.7 on Apple TestFlight (and I am sure on Android too). You should be able to test if you can connect to the mount without taking the mount outdoors.

Be sure to back up your microSD card, so you can revert back quickly in case the Beta is not working for you. The Beta app will update the firmware to 8.46. The old v1.6.2 app will not work with this firmware.

I updated to the beta software 1.7. It did update the firmware. Unfortunately I’m still getting the same results. No connection. I don’t think I can go back on the firmware so I guess the unit is a brick for me unless future firmwares fix the problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

That is kinda what I was afraid of. My asiair pro runs fine with my eq6r pro. Set up your mount and then use asiair pro to plate solve. Then do star alignment with hand controller. The star alignment is kinda slow but it works for me. I spent allot of money on the cgx mount. Just have to wait for firmware updates I guess. Years ago I did software testing, I don’t want to do it again……..

Long time to find out. This is what I'm looking for. I have a Nextstar6SE and have connecting problem to the ASIAIR Pro for months. I just checked and found that my USB Chipset is the Prolific.

Anyway, did ZWO include the fix driver for Prolific to the new update ASIAIR app? As I still cannot get the connection works.

Unfortunately not. An ASIAir update only updates the software that takes pictures and commands the mount but not the OS or device drivers. You need the device driver for the Prolific chipset.

I am not sure about the 6SE setup. I have the CGX mount that I bought new about 2 months ago. It had not worked until I updated to this latest version of the asiair app. It will now connect to the mount and stay connected. It seems to work but the weather here has been bad, I have not tried it out as far as using the “go to” option under real night astrophotography usage. Tonight may be first try. I connected to mount using the hand controller. Also be sure and update your mount by connecting to your computer using the celestron software to update your mount first. I can’t really remember the name of the software. Just go to the Celestron homepage and go to software. You will need to download it to your machine and install it. Then when you connect your mount to the computer it should recognize it , be sure you have all that up-to-date first. Then update your app. Then connect your app to the hand controller on your mount. I am hoping tonight will be the first night I will get to use my CGX amount.

Noommuk You won't have to. Like I said, AAP firmware does not involve device drivers or OS. So any additional drivers or (like in my case) modifications to networking etc will keep on working.

EDIT: It is confusing that the device, the firmware and the mobile app are called ASIAir. I am talking about the firmware is all cases.

I am trying to control my Celestron Evolution mount with the AAP, and the mount uses the Prolific chipset. I understand that I need to download the system that has the EQ6R driver on it and burn it onto an SD for the AAP. Once I do that, what settings do I set to get the AAP to talk with the Evolution mount? Do I use the EQ6R setting (which is made for the Prolific chipset) or the Celestron setting (which I gather is not)? Thanks!

I have the CGX mount and I solved the issue connecting a second old HC (with an old Prolific chipset) on the AUX2 port.
Two HCs are now connected to the mount: the original one is used to control the mount, the old one (connected to ASIAIR) is used to control the mount by the app.
It is working perfectly.

MaxBortle85 use the Celestron driver corresponding to your mount. Once you have the os version containing the prolific driver, you’re good to go.

I just got my CGX mount (my mount is about 6 weeks old and has new chip) working with the latest version of asiair app (red icon when using iPad). If yours works like mine, connect asiair to hand controller. Power up mount, then power asiair pro. Do “quick align” with your mount. Choose your mount in the app. I think your ready to focus your scope then polar align using asiair app. It worked for me first try, finally. I was beginning to worry. Hope this helps
