Noommuk You won't have to. Like I said, AAP firmware does not involve device drivers or OS. So any additional drivers or (like in my case) modifications to networking etc will keep on working.

EDIT: It is confusing that the device, the firmware and the mobile app are called ASIAir. I am talking about the firmware is all cases.

I am trying to control my Celestron Evolution mount with the AAP, and the mount uses the Prolific chipset. I understand that I need to download the system that has the EQ6R driver on it and burn it onto an SD for the AAP. Once I do that, what settings do I set to get the AAP to talk with the Evolution mount? Do I use the EQ6R setting (which is made for the Prolific chipset) or the Celestron setting (which I gather is not)? Thanks!

I have the CGX mount and I solved the issue connecting a second old HC (with an old Prolific chipset) on the AUX2 port.
Two HCs are now connected to the mount: the original one is used to control the mount, the old one (connected to ASIAIR) is used to control the mount by the app.
It is working perfectly.

MaxBortle85 use the Celestron driver corresponding to your mount. Once you have the os version containing the prolific driver, you’re good to go.

I just got my CGX mount (my mount is about 6 weeks old and has new chip) working with the latest version of asiair app (red icon when using iPad). If yours works like mine, connect asiair to hand controller. Power up mount, then power asiair pro. Do “quick align” with your mount. Choose your mount in the app. I think your ready to focus your scope then polar align using asiair app. It worked for me first try, finally. I was beginning to worry. Hope this helps

I tried this last night. On the bright side, my attempt to burn the new AAP OS onto an SD was a success. The AAP was able to read the card, and proceeded to update the firmware after that.

Unfortunately, I still wasn't able to control the Celestron Evolution mount with the AAP.

Here is my procedure.

Align the mount using StarSense Auto Align.
Slew to a named star to confirm accurate alignment.
Connect AAP to mount by connecting a USB cable from the AAP to the StarSense hand controller that controls the mount.
In AAP app, select the Celestron driver that best corresponds to my mount. Turn the green switch "on."
In AAP app, plate solve my current location, and then tap "Sync to mount" or "Sync to mount and go."

But it never went. The app has told me that the devices are "connected," but the AAP reports error when I try to use the AAP to slew.

Any other ideas on how to get this working? Thank you all for your help.

Thinking of upgrading my Orion Atlas and buying a CGX-L does anyone know if the issue with the Prolific chipset (connecting to the mount) has been resolved? Thanks.

I have a CGX mount that is about six months old. It has the new chipset. It works for me right now. Matter of fact I just used it last night. You just have to connect through the hand controller and do the quick align with the hand controller and then you’re ready to do a focus and then polar align. When you get the new mount be sure and do a firmware update first from celestron.

I too have the CGX and have no issues establishing communications. However it can definitely be buggy at times. I'd say 80% of the time the CGX and ASIAIR play nice, the other 20% of the time, the mount seems to reverse all of it's GoTo commands, and guiding commands can also be reversed following calibration. Normally when this happens I need to shutdown the ASIAIR and CGX and start again from scratch. The key seems to be ensuring the CGX connection is turned Off in the ASIAIR app when performing Polar Align, however sometimes there are still issues. What has your experience been in this regard? It seems to be more of an issue for us Southern Hemisphere dwellers.

Im sorry, but why would 2 ASIAIR PRO's recognize my CGX-L and run my Cgx-l for 2 years, without problems, then just stop recognizing my mount? it worked with whatever chip set was in it. Unless Zwo stealthly sent an update to disable it. This only happend last week. No update was recorded on either of my PRO"S. Everything else works, but connecting the mount. WHAT IS HAPPENING ZWO? WHERE ARE YOU ZWO? YOUR HIDING! Use to love your products. I have the ASI2600mm pro camera, 2- ASI1290 mini's. Looks like thats all im going to be purchasing from them. This issue has been ongoing for more than a year now, and ZWO has been missing in action. Not good. For all intent and purposes i have bought a bunch of bricks from Zwo, and so have others. Time to let the astronomy community know Zwo is not supporting there product, and continues to advertise nowingly false support for mounts in its list of compatability. If we don't demand them to support their products this will only get worse.

First, please connect the mount to PC to rule out the problem
If it works fine, you can refer to this guide to restore the OS, and try again.
