I believe that if your mount already has go-to function then it will work just find. The AAP only sends go-to commands to the mount, it doesn’t do the actual driving, all of that happens in your mount. Same with plate solving, the AAP will issue it a goto command, plate solve, and if it’s not within the accuracy tolerance will issue another go-to command, and repeat until it’s within that tolerance. But all of the moving is done by the mount.
Celestron Evolution in alt-az configuration worked fine for me, plate-solve included.
Thanks,
If this monsoon would cease for a while I could try it.

Somebody use Asiair with StellarCat Alt-Az mount?thanks
I have not tried the ASIAir with my ServoCat, but it works quite well with my alt-az Panther mount.
JerryK Yes, it's compatible. I've used it with my Evolution 9,25 multiple times.
Thanks!…. I haven’t received mine yet since it’s on back order…. Are there any issues that I should be aware of that you encountered either setting up or operating…. I have a Celestron focus motor attached to my mount but I understand this is not compatible so I’ll have to buy a ZWO EAF-S focuser to replace it… do you have the same on your mount? I also have a StarSense on my mount which I suppose I will not be able to use will also takeoff…. Do you have a auto guide scope/camera ?Do you think I would need one and which one would you recommend?
JerryK Don't bother with a guide camera. Guiding doesn't work well on alt/az mounts. I don't use an EAF on my evolution, no. I just use it for visual use, so I left it as is. Correct that starsense doesn't work with the AIR. It's been a bit, but I don't think you can connect the AIR to the Evolution via wifi, you have to run a cable from the hand control to the AIR.
JerryK Sorry for delay. Yes ASIAIR works with EVO. You may need to create a new OS card depending on the USB hardware in your mount (see EQ6-r forum). There may be a way to connect wifi to the mount, but I wouldn't bother. The EVO wifi has dropouts which don't play nice with other software. USB is much more stable in my opinion.
EAF works fine on my c8. You will want to increase the default step size. Don't worry about guiding until you move to EQ setup (either via wedge or GEM mount). A guidescope is ok with sct, but you will be susceptible to mirror flop and flexure (max 2 min exposures from experience). OAG tend to be better.
Edit: You will also not need starsense with ASIAIR. ASIAIR automatically plate-solves and updates the mount pointing model at every target. It works really well from experience. Even if you have a REALLY good pointing model, the EVO does not have encoder so slew can still be inaccurate. Plate-solving works every time, I don't even bother aligning carefully before my first target (1 point alignment in the ballpark of target).
What mount setting should use in setting up in ASIAIR Plus?
charles18 I'm interested in knowing the details of connection of Celestron Evolution mount with ASIAIR. I mean, you connect the ASIAIR by cable to hand controller?. Which driver do you select in ASIAIR?. Are you able to plate solve with a 9,25? which camera are you using?.
Thank you very much for your help
