AP and STA Mode BUG Fixed Statement - ASIAIR [v1.8.3 - 9.12]

Hello everyone, we are very sorry that a bug was introduced in the ASIAIR [v1.8.2 - 9.10] version, which caused the ASIAIR first-generation AP mode to be abnormal and ASIAIR PRO STA mode to be abnormal. In response, we urgently fixed the problem and released the [v1.8.3 - 9.12] version today.

SOLUTION
1 Download App: Please go to the corresponding app store to update the v1.8.3
2 Preparation: For the ASIAIR first-generation, please restore the ASIAIR OS; the ASIAIR PRO does not require special preparations
3 Firmware Update: connect the ASIAIR hotspot and complete the firmware update
4 Restart ASIAIR Device: After the firmware update is successful, restart the box and it will return to normal

I have just opened a post on start up issues, and seems like this is due to this firmware update. I have checked but I am not seeing the updated release in google play app store, still showing same version 1.8.2 - 9.10

Not available as of now on the iOS store, it’s still the older version. There is definitly an issue with 1.82/ 9.10 with ASIAir Plus - wifi from 1 foot away is terrible and constantly disconnects. Prior versions I didn’t have this issue.

@asiair@zwo#53167 My device in a pro plus, so I can confirm it DOES affect the ASIAIR plus. When I started mine, naturally it did a firmware update, after which time trying to start the app the wifi does not work!

I have a first-generation ASIAir which i had updated to [v1.8.2 - 9.10]. I did not activate Station Mode on this device. For updating to [v1.8.3 - 9.12] i simply connected my iPad to the ASIAir over a direct WiFi connection. The update went without any problem. Could you please clarify why the restore is needed and if it is still needed in the scenario i described?

Olli, if you had not entered Station Mode earlier, there is probably no need to start with an older copy of the firmware.

I started last night with a directly (LAN) connected ASIAIR v1 hardware that never had its Station Mode turned on. The hardware was updated two days ago to v1.8.2's firmware (from a one-year old firmware) but with Station Mode left disabled, and it seems to work normally last night in Station Mode after updating it to ASIAIR v1.8.3's firmware.

That said, if you want to be doubly sure, there is no harm in starting with an older firmware.

@asiair@zwo#53167 So I have now been able to install the latest update (1.8.3 - 9.12) and have now been able to connect to the app now and also did further testing, and have found, if my main camera is plugged into the top USB3 port (ASIAIR Pro Plus) when the app starts, the wifi element fails to start. However, if the main camera is plugged into USB3 port, bottom, the device and wifi starts up ok, so seems there is still and issue there?

I have tested with station mode on and off and get the same issue in either setting.

@asiair@zwo#53167 I have also tested and I can confirm that this does relate to the ASIAIR PLUS.
On my ASIAIR PLUS it doesn't seem to matter what USB3 port I use or which camera is used, I tested with a 294MC Pro and a 533MC Pro, in both cases using either port, if cameras are plugged in at startup the PLUS does not recognize the camera and wifi is disabled.
When the ASIAIR PLUS is started without the cameras plugged in the device boots up regularly and after the cameras are plugged in everything works as it is supposed to... including STA MODE.

There is clearly a firmware problem related to PLUS that is not addressed in the new 9-12 update.

I am curious, how are your cameras and the ASIAIR powered? Are the cameras powered directly from a power supply, or are they powered through the ASIAIR's power outlets? Are you powering the ASIAIR with at least 18 AWG wires, and what is the length of the power cable to ASIAIR?

I have noticed that there is a change with the recent ASIAIR firmware. In the past, the ASIAIR only turns the fan of a camera on at boot up time. The recent firmware versions appear to also turn the Peltier cooler on. It is possible that the extra current draw is causing what you observed.

I have not yet encounter a problem with a pre-connected camera (ASI2600MM), but my camera's 12V is sourced directly from a (25A, set to 13.8 volts) power supply, and not through the ASIAIR's power outlets.

The ASIAIR (dunno about the third generation, but with the two previous generations) itself pulls close to the maximum power during boot up. Any additional load on the USB ports could be just enough to drop the voltage to cause problems.

altair60 Hello, USB 3.0 will affect WiFi signal. Please keep the USB 3.0 cable away from the antenna or use 5Hz WiFi.
