You still can’t open the app without turning on the ASIAir.

jrrjrr Could "Supported the Mac with Apple silicon(e)" in the New Features list mean that when released, this 2.x will be available to install on M1 and M2 Macs?

If you want to run ASIAIR on an Apple silicon Mac, you can already do so with ASIAIR v1.9.2. Just that the v2.0.0 beta is not yet available.

ASIAIR v1.9.2 works fine (as long as you can stand the non-cocoaTouch interface) on my Mac Studio Ultra:

Image is from my All-Sky camera, that is why I can't image stars tonight :-). Albeit, you can see Vega, not far from the center of the screen (North is top, east is left on the image). By the way, I am currently in astronomical darkness. Just shows that the sky is still blue relative to the white point of the clouds, it is just black with unaided eyes.

FWIW, it is no faster than ASIAIR running on my 12.9" iPad Pro which has an M1 chip (just not the M1 Ultra chip in the Mac Studio). The ASIAIR window is actually larger on the 12.9" iPad than on the Apple Studio display, unless I put ASIAIR in full screen mode on the Mac, in which case it is scaled and blurred.

The ping in the Terminal window at the upper left is from the ASIAIR (a version 1 ASIAIR (Raspberry Pi 3), running with WiFi station mode to the eero mesh router; the Mac Studio is directly connected to the eero router).

Notice that the ASIAIR app in the Mac is running v1.9.2, but the firmware in the box has already been updated to 10.08 (firmware payload of ASIAIR v2.0.0). I just told ASIAIR to ignore the inconsistency.

If anyone really needs to know, I can try ASIAIR app on my spouse's MacBookPro that has the M2 chip. But I am sure it wil run fine.

@w7ay, Well thank you for that! I'm installing the beta through Test Flight on my MBP right now. And I see 1.9.2 turning up in a Mac App Store search, but not when I call up the list of my installed iOS apps through the Mac App Store. Most every other iOS app I have is listed and downloadable, but ASIAIR does not show up, and that was the only way I looked for it until just now. I probably would have remained clueless for months without your note above. Thanks again! A new interface to get all confused about . . .

Now if only we would be able to edit a plan during runtime (changing amount of exposures, adding filters etc.)...

Ah, OK folks, you can run ASIAIR 2.0.0 Beta on macOS, by first downloading TestFlight into the Mac (not the Mac TestFlight for beta testing Mac programs, but iOS TestFlight :-). Then download the ASIAIR beta using TestFlight.

(Moon is appearing from behind clouds through the trees (time to play Dvořák's Song to the Moon :-). Bright star is Vega with a slightly tilted Northern Cross to its left.)

By the way, one thing to note is that ZWO did not make the app's window sizable. If you are running other iOS apps on the Mac, you will find many, if not most, of them let you resize the window. The ASIAIR app does not.

Any word on the android beta for 1.9.2 or 2.0?

Update. Got the link

johnpd DSO stacking, doesn't seem to work though, can't select lights.

How did you manage to download iOS TestFlight? All I see is Mac Testflight in Mac App Store. When going thru developers page it opens link in Mac App Store as well with the same Mac TestFlight 😕
BTW: I'm on macOS Ventura Beta 4, Apple Silicon, so maybe thats the issue.

    • w7ay replied to this.

gutaker How did you manage to download iOS TestFlight?

The one on the left is the iOS TestFlight, the one on the right is the macOS TestFlight. MacBookPro M1 and macOS 12.5.

You may need to sign in on your iOS developer account. I did not try signing out. Notice the update notification, it is for Xcode. Xcode is so humongous, I usually wait a couple of releases before I download a new one :-). What appears in App Store.app may be keyed by developer account (I have both macOS and iOS accounts, FWIW) or by Xcode, who knows.

w7ay Got the same. Logged in to my apple account that is the same as my developer account. I get the ASIAIR 2.0.0(30). When I tap on INSTALL, it starts downloading and after download when it comes to install procedure it breaks and the button instead of OPEN show INSTALL again :/

Did you check the Console message?

You could try moving any existing ASIAIR app from the Applications folder (I do that anyway, and have different ASIAIR iOS apps archived into a separate folder -- this is the only advantage I can see of running ASAIR on a Mac -- you can easily revert to older versions. But then, you can do this with an iPad as well with iMazing.)

Also be sure TestFlight has Full Disk Access.

As of today ASIair 1.9.2 is on the apple App Store and installs on Mac OS Monterey 12.5.
I purchased my M1 Mac mini in order to run the ASIair app. the week the M1 Mac mini was available.

Thank You ZWO! I have been able to run the ASIair app for the past year and a half. however I was unable to update the operating system above Big Sur version 1.2.3. using amazing I have been able to run the updates until recently.
Now we are all good and I can update to Monterey.

Where is my good old FOV frame? In the sky atlas I only see a target circle and a cross. The behavior of sky movement is really strange. After opening the sky atlas page a small notification shows up, telling me to plate solve for FOV. I did plate solve in preview several time with no success for the FOV frame. Does anyone of you have a hint for me?
Thank you very much in advance!

msennerich did you get a chance to test out the beta on Android?

Please let me know your thoughts.

              -Tim

Eriktim82 I installed 1.9.3 on Android, seems to mostly work but I haven't updated my AAPro, not going to do that until it's stable.

Thanks @Astrobert ! That did the trick.

So those who were previous testflight users, 2.0.0 does not come part of that program. You need to follow the new link in order to gain access to 2.0.0, the 1.9.x is still out there in TestFlight as a separate app. Just follow link below if you want to jump to the 2.0.0 track.

Open the following url in Safari (I assume that you have TestFlight installed): https://testflight.apple.com/join/JffGkxnN

feedback right out of the gate:

                • I really like the community idea, with ability to share posts and comment. That will be real nice. That comes with a few key factors as you are stepping into a very volatile and dangerous space. You need to be ready and staffed to support a social media sewer system:
                  - Please ensure you have a way to monitor and police this before you go live. It will get hacked and abused, jerks will escalate things to hostile levels, morons will make it a political forum or preach their opinions and harass other users or way way worse. You need a way to easily report and then to quickly react to indecent posts. It could be a mess if you don’t have the right support for this type of feature
                  - Please take serious and ensure users information is safe, I’m a bit concerned about the sites and what’s available for others to see… can they see my home location and know where my equipment is?
                  - CRITICAL - you MUST strip out photo meta data, that contains very personal information (such as location) that should not be shared, not just in posts, but is that stripped out in profile pictures?
                  - Will there be a website that I can go to and log in, and can I make posts there. Nearly all my pictures end up being processes on PC and not within AA+. So how do I easily share/post if there is no website and the photo’s are not on my apple/android device?
                • Doesn’t support landscape mode for the new UI, this is a problem, especially for iPad users who live in landscape mode everything is on it’s side.
                • Don’t recommend Chinese characters in the app icon (I assume this is just lack of localization while in beta)
                • It’s not clear once in the ASIAir device how to get back to menu (it’s click top left logo).
                • (I know this has been asked many times before) it would be nice to enter the actual app without being connected to an ASIair device, primary use case is to be able to actually check/change configurations and settings ahead of the setup. The other use case is a demo/simulation to see the app.
                • Now that you are expanding the platform, you need to consider and option of having the ASIAir proxy through a DDNS so that users can remotely access their AA from off local wifi. E.g. I am out to dinner and I want to see if I’m still tracking and taking photo’s. The ability to access the AA from anywhere would be a huge feature.
