Not sure how relevant this is to the problems people are having connecting with the new version but I've noticed that the Air will start the the WiFi network despite the fact that a wired connection is being used.
I've found that if I connect immediately the Air is visible on the network, a few minutes later the connection drops out and connects on a different IP address. This is when the wired network starts up. Sometimes my phone will not reconnect, I can scan and see the Air but it never connects, like some people have commented. I have to stop the service that runs in the background on Android and usually it then connects.
I've got used to waiting several minutes before starting the app after powering up the Air.
