Two Filter Wheels on same Setup

I have one scope piggybacked on top of another, using the same acquisition software. Each has an electronic filter wheel. However, the acquisition software (NINA) gets the two EFWs mixed up if I use two of the same type- both 7x2" EFWs. It only identifies each EFW properly if I use two different types, a 5x2" and a 7x2" filter wheel. Is there a way to set up two 7x2" EFWs so that the software does not get confused as to which filter wheel I am trying to use?

You can customize the name of a ZWO EFW by using one of the programs in the ASIStudio suite.

The following shows ASICAP after clicking on the Editor icon at the far right of the EFW name (a small "Edit EFW alias" window pops up):

This is what the EFW name looks like after entering "LSHO" into the "EFW alias" text field (it appends the alias within parentheses to the name stored in the EFW firmware):

See if this can help you distinguish between the two EFWs.

Can this be done using the ASCOM drivers, which is what I am using to control them in NINA?

I just tested in NINA, seems it can't read the name of the EFW via the ZWO driver, but it can read via the ASCOM driver.
So you can set the name in ASIStudio, then connect it via ASCOM driver in NINA to distinguish them.

Hello,
Sorry to dig up this post, but we are facing the same pb here. We have some old EFW, with the 3.0.6 firmware. We can not set any name in ASIStudion, turns out we need at least the 3.0.9 firmware. We tried to update one EFW with the update software, turned out we kind of brick our EFW: doesn't connect to any computer anymore (linux and windows). How can we update safely our EFW ? Thank you for any answer.

MrSpock22 Only connect that unrecognized EFW to computer and run the FW update tool, can it recognize it?

Thanks for you reply. No the FW update tool does not recognize it... It does not also show up in the device manager... no sound on windows when plugged in.
What can I do about it ? Thanks !

MrSpock22 In this case, your EFW needs to be shipped back fo repair.
If it can be recognized in this tool, Probably fix it by flashing the firmware

MrSpock22 Where and when did you purchase the EFW? we provide two years warranty for EFW, you can directly send to the dealer if it is within warranty, conversely, please submit a RMA ticket here.
