I recently downloaded ASIAIR v2.1.48/10.71, successfully installing it to my AAPlus. Using it with my ASI6200MC, ASI1200MM-S, and Ioptron CEM40 mount, I didn't observe any real problems during an imaging session apart from what I perceived to be a slower processing of image transfers for Preview mode display. From what I've seen in comments, that problem has apparently been recognized and addressed, so that is great news.
Given my AAPlus success, I decided to move on to installation to my AAPro, for use with my Nikon D850, ASI1200MC-S, and Star Adventurer Pro tracker which uses an ST-4 connection only. I immediately saw a problem upon launch of the app, in that there was no initial configuration page provided for Location entry and setup of the main camera, guide camera, and mount. This seems to be unique to a mount connection via ST-4, because upon reselecting my CEM40 goto mount and changing the wi-fi back over to the AAPlus, then exiting and re-entering the app, I was presented with the configuration page as expected. This page remains particularly important for manual entry of the location when using an ST-4 connection and especially in the absence of GPS data on the host device.
UPDATE:
I continued later in the day with the exploration of this problem and have found it seems more common with a tracker and ST-4 only connection, yet I have now confirmed its occurrence also with my Ioptron CEM40 goto mount. What I discovered, and this is unique to the new app release, is that the initial configuration page that I was expecting to see anytime I restarted the app (as historically has been true of pre-2.1 versions per my observation) is now being presented only if the ASIAR is rebooted. If one remains on that page without entering the app further and restarts the app, then again the initial configuration page is presented. However, if that page is left to proceed into the app, then it is no longer provided even with a restart of the app. To obtain it again, the ASIAIR (Pro or Plus in my case) must be rebooted. This seems a significant oversight, in that if no GPS source is available to automatically populate the location data then manual entry of the location is required, yet cannot be completed unless the ASIAR is rebooted.
Such errors impact being able readily/easily obtain a polar alignment. If the operator is working remotely from the ASIAIR and wants to inspect the location data, there is none provided for trackers, only goto mounts. So, the operator must have access to the initial configuration page to confirm the correct initial settings of the location. In the past, this has been available by simply exiting the app and re-entering it, but this no longer seems true. Apart from the problems this creates for the operator, I would suggest further that there is a value in having a button made available for selecting the initial configuration page so that location updates can be preformed. Alternatively, on the Mount page where Location information is accessible for goto mounts, make that same information available for tracking mounts.
Thank you!
