w7ay Fist it is a Android tablet using Android version 11. Yes my screen looked like that each time and every time and yes I would put the correct coordinates in. It would show they matched the mount . What found out now is that if it doesn't change in a few seconds after input it will change it does change it as soon as I open the Sky Atlas. It goes right back to the same settings you show in your image and it even changes my hand controller. I did send in 5 bug reports.

What I know now. There is some kind of difference between what is the update on the ZWO web site and what was released in the Play Store. A rather large size difference. The play store version is the one I have had all the issues with.
The ZWO web site version is not only bigger ,but also WORKS with out issues. for me. Whatever the issue is it is in the Play store version. The smaller version is missing something or a lot of something.

That's troubling to know. I would think the officlal release of 2.1 by ZWO would be identical whether downloaded from ZWO directly or the Google Play Store. I also noticed upon downloading versions 1.9.1 and 2.0 from "APK Pure" that the files sizes are remarkably smaller than 2.1

ASIAIR 1.9.1 filesize from APKPURE = 79.17MB
ASIAIR 2,0 filesize from APKPURE = 159MB
ASIAIR 2.1 filesize from ZWO download site - 724MB

That's a huge difference, I am guessing the firmware is not included in the earlier versions, but if not, then how would we restore an earlier version without the accompanying and appropriate firmware?

If you goto previous versions and look for the apk/obb file download which will work out to around the 700mb file size you expect. Your grabbing the apk only file version, its easy to miss and the website doesn’t make it intuitive with all the other distracting download here crap…

jsg I'm having no issues with the version they have on the ZWO web site and not the play store version. Something I did not want to do. The play store version is a lot smaller in size than the version on the web site. Meaning there are extra things in the web site version. The answer they gave me with all my debug in put was blamed on my tablet maker. They said it kept giving the wrong coordinates to the ASIAIR. Now keep in mind this is the same tablet I used with Version 2.0 with out issue. It was made in China. However I checked my tablet and ran test on it and it always showed the correct coordinates. So they are wrong on the answer given. Either they have no idea or they do know but will never say. Leaves one to guess what is in that web site version that isn't in the Play store version, and why Google had issue with their release. My take away is, if one version doesn't work try the other. In my case it did work out using the web site version. Blaming it on the tablet is just a fast way to dodge the issue if you ask me.

The difference is in the sky atlas in the app and the social connecting part still in the app

Thanks Bonzer2u, I didn't know that. I downloaded the ASIAIR 2.0.xapk file (which contains the OBB data) and it's about 700MB, so that seems right.

Does v2.1 increase the range of the EAF beyond 65000 steps (for SCTs)? Thought I saw somewhere that it was planned…

Seems like this has more to do with the firmware of the EAF, but the good news is that the range has been increased to 600,000

I downloaded from APK Pure versions 1.9.1 and 2.0 of the ASIAIR app. But on my phone, the .xapk is not recognized as an installable application. I changed the filename from ASIAIR_2.0.xapk to ASIAIR_2.0.apk but that didn't help, it is still not installable.

I want access to older versions just in case there's unanticipated issues with newer versions. Why can't ZWO just post older versions as so many software companies do?

Does anyone know how to make the .xapk file executable so that Android recognizes it as a legitimate app?

You have to use a custom installer from the site that is hosting the packages. Personally I would never do this.

An APK file is just a zip archive, if you unzip it you can see all the bits including the 'patch' that is the ASIAir 'firmware' update - which is basically just a bunch of .deb packages.

Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, I don't want to do that either. Maybe ZWO will post older versions, that would be best for its customers..

What I noticed is that my initial download of the playstore 2.1 apk to my phone on 3/2/23 file was around 725mb. Then around 3/5/23 I got a 56mb update applied but the release notes were never updated nor was the release (version) number?
I can only assume the smaller 56mb playstore update was the version 2.1.1 bump but I guess we will never know until someone from zwo explains what happened. If you look in playstore right now you will see the v2.1 dated 3/2/23 as the current release when we all understand they already applied a hotfix to v2.1 updating the ios release to v2.1.1 (3/4/23).
So are we to assume the android 2.1 release currently posted at zwo and playstore already contain the 2.1.1 hotfix or will the android/ios app versions have different release numbers going forward?

ZWO's lack of info regarding the details of the current playstore android release is ridiculous and avoidable, isn't that was this sticky post is for???

FYI, My ios devices got full 725mb-ish updates for both 2.1 and 2.1.1 which was last updated 3/4/23.

Does make you wonder. If what's on the Play Store isn't the whole thing, where is it downloading the rest from?
And, does that mean that the entire download has not been verified safe and virus free by Google?

I got 2.0 from zwo a week before 2.1 posted and 1.91 from a fellow asiair user. I ran them both after my firmware reset and still have 2.0 loaded on my asiair, windows pc's and android phone. My ipads both bumped to 2.1.1 and although I had a cloud backup from January, when i restored it to my ipad the other day it just went to the appstore and downloaded 2.1.1 again. So unless you have an archived local backup on a mac running time machine, itunes does not manage apps any longer, Im not aware of any other way to rollback an ios app. If someone does, please enlighten me....
I believe unless zwo posts a separate asiair ios 2.0 download in the app store, we're all stuck with 2.1.1
Both my ipads now have auto update apps turned off but to little to late for me...

They sure don't beta test for any time period. Seems like the beta testing was done one week and the the release the next making all users beta tester. I think for me it best to wait a month or more before jumping on a new release from now on. I have been snake bit twice. Lesson learned. They are trying to improve the product and that is a good thing, but rushing out these new releases is not going to help anyone.

PMTeam@ZWO It says it supports Sonya5000. However, only "none" is displayed in the main camera list in the asiar mini. Selected as "Control with pc". The asi 120mm mini recognizes right away. Do you have any advice?
