• ASI Mount
  • AM5 latest Firmware V1.3.7 is formally released

This means that the 0.5x and 1x in the RA direction commands are not functional at all for the AM3 and AM5, as I described above. Faster commands are also affected.
For instance, fine adjustment to get a solar system object in the middle of a narrow frame is very cumbersome.

This is disturbing. None of the mounts I know (iOptron, 10micron, Skywatcher) show this behavior.
The directional commands are always superposed on the diurnal motion, the only behavior that makes sense.

This is also probably the reason why the ASIAIR guiding calibration vectors deviate from being perpendicular with these mounts, which is of course not a problem, but now understandable.

Could this property of the AM mounts be corrected to get them to behave as what one would expect?
Or a workaround through the ASCOM driver for instance?
Thanks for your attention - Huib

Ist this only when moving the mount with arrow keys?
Assuming guidung would simply not possible with this behaviour.

@Sonixx
As I wrote, this happens when pressing the arrow keys with both the ASIMount app and the ASCOM via a PC.
This supports the conclusion that it is likely the response of the mount, as confirmed by ZWO.

Thanks I was referring to the statement that the calibration data in Asiair is not perpendicular.
It is for me at least.

Thanks,

Stephan

I had been running 1.3.7 fine. But today I saw from the ASI Mount desktop program that an update is available. When I told it to update, it showed that the current version was 1.3.7 and the new version was 1.1.2. Thinking that this was a bug, I updated anyway and now have 1.1.2 loaded and can’t get back to 1.3.7.

If I try from the ASI Mount desktop app (v6.5.9.0) it shows that the latest version is 1.1.2 which is the same as the installed version. The OnlineUpdate button is greyed out. So there is no way to update from the desktop app.

If I try to update it from the iOS app, it also shows 1.1.2 as the installed version but it allows me to attempt to update it. But the attempt fails immediately though.

The behavior suggests that the online server for providing updates either has only old firmware or is not functioning correctly. I don’t know if ZWO is reading these posts but I’m hoping that this can be fixed soon.

Anyone else running into this?

Any update on this issue? I looks like firmware update on both ASI Mount (desktop app) and iOS app is broken and only v1.1.2 is available.

I have updated from V.1.3.7 to 1.5.1 today, which worked fine for me with ASI Mount windows software 6.5.17.0

@ASIMount@ZWO Is there any changelog available what is new in AM5 firmware V.1.5.1?

paulchen interesting. Yesterday I was able to see v1.3.7 again and updated accordingly. I wonder if the new version became available after I updated? Did you update via the mobile or desktop app? Mine was through the mobile app.

I have used the ASI mount windows software on my NINA computer to update the AM5 firmware

I connect my mount to the PC windows with a USB cable. I use ASIMount in order to update the firmware from 1.3.7 to 1.5.1 version.

    But I have not see:
    1) how to update the Hand controller one in order to keep it compliant with the mount
    2) in the skyAtlas APP, for the AM5, I do not see a home button position. it is very useful, could you add it.

A document in order to describe the different way in order to update the firmware and/or the mount could be very useful for all of us and avoid to disturb you for that.

      @ASIMount@ZWO

Please! update us with the changes in AM5/3 FW Version 1.5.1 !!

      Thank you

      1) how to update the Hand controller one in order to keep it compliant with the mount
to update the hand controller, you need to attach / connect to AM5 and then with the new SKYATLAS APP
you can update not only the AM5 FW but also the Hand contrroller also, BUT! I did already check and there is no new update for the hand controller but only for AM5 FW Version 1.5.1

      2) in the skyAtlas APP, for the AM5, I do not see a home button position. it is very useful, could you add it.
The HOME position in SKYATLAS APP is well hidden, you need to connect your AM5 with the SKYATLAS APP
and then click on the Symbol left side of SKYATLAS APP ( settings ) and then clock on ASI MOUNT SETTINGS and here you can actually see the HOME BUTTON

Hello @artem , I will try that. I have connected my mount to the phone through the skyatlas application. I go in the settings in order to connect the mount, that's OK. I could move the mount, set the FOV with my specific settings (camera & tube focal lenght).

I do not see the Home button
I do not see an interface with the version of the HC & the mount & update buttons. I have seen that it the old ASIMount version of last year. Here, I see nothing.

Perhaps, I have no see correctly. I will look further at my next connection.

Many thanks for your help, good sky

        Hi friends
Is possible to setup angle limits for the AM5 mount to avoid scope collision with tripod?
Using AsiAir and very often in libe stacking mode (for spectators around) and last time we shooted M51 (almost at zenith) and just by luck we stopped it with camera almost touching tripod leg. Using 200mm pier extension but even so can bottom end of scope kit be in collision with tripod.
I did not find any safety limits settings in asiair nor in mount app.
Using only asiair, no ascom and other software

Might I suggest to the ZWO folks:

        • a formal announcement of the new 1.5.1 firmware for the mounts, if indeed it exists
        • thorough, step-by-step instructions, starting from step 1, on how to install the firmware? (for all platforms that you support, including naming of apps to use, and including screenshots)
        • maybe, just maybe, address the plethora of "Get Data Failed" errors/questions that your users are reporting?

In case you aren't getting it, there is a general feeling that while the hardware may be good, the support is non-existent - to the detriment of the ZWO brand.
