I use an iPad to connect to my ASIAIR Pro. In a previous post ZWO said that iOS devices get automatic updates for comets. I have not gotten anything in over a year. If it is getting updates from the Internet, how does it get an update if the ASIAIR is connected to my iPad via an adhoc network connection?

I even wired the ASIAIR to my network and I still received no updates. What am I missing?

So what you are saying is that the updates come with new version releases. There is no way to add new comets between these releases. As a temporary measure, I found that I can enter the RA and Dec for the comet in the GOTO pull-out, but I will have to do this each time I want to access a new comet.

johnpd No, the comets database should auto-update when the ASIAIR app can access the network.
But there is a bug cause the auto-update does not work in the earlier version, and now the bug was fixed.

What this means is that for the Comet database to update you will need a device that can access the Internet and the ASIAIR at the same time.

This can be done one of three ways:

        1. With a device that allows you to connect to mobile data and a Wi-Fi network at the same time. So you would connect to the ASIAIR Wi-Fi, enable Mobile Data (if it had been disabled), launch the ASIAIR App, connect to the ASIAIR device, and it will update (possibly after going past the initial settings screen).

        2. With a computer that is connected to a network with Internet access and the ASIAIR WiFi at the same time. This can be done, for example, with a computer connected via Ethernet cable to your home network, and then using the the same computer to connect to the ASIAIR Wi-Fi. Or you could being directly connected to the ASIAIR Plus/Pro via Ethernet cable and connect to your home network via Wi-Fi (possibly).

The computer will be running BlueStacks 5 in order to run the ASIAIR App (Windows 10 / Mac / possibly Linux) or using Windows Subsytem for Android (Windows 11).

        1. ASIAIR in station mode connected to your home WiFi. Use mobile/computer on same Wi-Fi network to connect to the ASIAIR. Just need to make sure your home network has Internet access.

Don't need Bluestacks. I was able to access and run the ASIAIR from my iPad if I plug the ASIAIR into my local network. We will have to see what the new release holds once it is final. Hopefully it does not have a lot of issues. Temporarily I can access new comets by entering its current RA and Dec on the Preview GOTO panel.

johnpd yeah, that's another way. A variation to my method 3 (use ethernet cable to correct to Home network rather than station mode to WiFi).
