It is absolutely crazy that ZWO has announced its CAA, and reviews are popping up all over YouTube, yet you cannot order it anywhere. It does not even appear on the ZWO store.

viperduude looks like one of the shops in Canada listed it early by mistake. I happened to see it and I pre-ordered it on the 22nd. They've removed the page now, but I do have the confirmation email that it is ordered.

EFW 8 x 1.25″(31mm) It has an M42 hole, and there is no adapter for this size in the CAA package, only M54 and M48. What should I do?

SFDgxzzs Purchase an adapter M48/54F to M42M. This is provided that CAA has the M54/M48 male connector and EFW M42 female. Remember to check what the optical length of adapter is so that you can get the backfocus right.

Probably the best way to set up the image train is: Camera -> EFW -> Rotator -> (spacer(s) for backfocus) -> Telescope.

MJoker In my case, the free segment is 16.5 mm, just for CAA installation. Another adapter from M48 to M42 will add an extra segment, which will negatively affect the image.

SFDgxzzs Ah! Then you would need to order a bit more rare adapter. Something like M48F/M54F-M42M without a flange on it. The problem might then be how to make sure that the adapter "stops" before falling into the focuser and connecting with the wheel inside the EFW. Maybe an M42 shim with a larger outer diameter?

I feel like the installation options are really lacking with this unit. And not just because of the myriad of different branded setups out there. It seems like the CAA wipes out using a large portion of the ZWO range as well.
Of the 12 cooled DSO cameras on the website, only the 2600 Duo and Air come with the inbuilt guide cam that allows the CAA to easily slot into the image train. Anything with an OAG makes life difficult.

I ordered the CAA right away.
However, currently with the ASIAIR it seems the Rotator can only be mounted one way as there is no reverse operation option in the settings looking at the youtube reviews.
I want to avoid the Filterwheel rotating and thus potentially be in a position where it hits the tripod or pier.

Also on some setups the rotator may not be able to be installed because of the notch hitting parts of the focuser/ large diameter Adapter. In this case a reverse mounting is also necessary.

I am using a pegasus rotator for years with SGPro in reverse mode and it works fine. As I keep my optical train always clean und leave it always assembled, I have no issues with the flats. Also keepting the filters farther away from the sensor reduces greatly the effect of dust.

Another important point that many ppl are not aware of is that there is less vignetting when the Filter is closer to the reducer/ corrector.
While this may seem counterintuitive, many corrected optical systems work with projecting the image on the sensor. At least this is what I read in some AP forums.

Also would like to install CAA before EFW, this is how I use Wanderer rotator mini now, only camera are rotated.
This works perfectly and minimize possibility to hit tripod or pier,

Yes there is an ETA to the USA Middle to end of Jan 2025 for the first batch. Of course needs to get past customs.

Hello Everyone,

I've ordered the rotator, and im asking myself what's the best way to integrate it to the asiair Plus
asiair has 4 USB ports, my camera has 2 extra, that makes a total of 6 available ports.

1 main camera (the two ports located at the camera's back are used to connect the filter wheel and the focuser)
2 guide camera
3 Mount
4 usb stick used as an image storage.

so im thinking that i will need to sacrifice the USB port for the memory stick, and connect the rotator there, and rely in the internal storage of the ASIAir.

im guessing if this is the right way to be able to connect the rotator, or i just need to get an External USB hub for the asiair.

any ideas will be appreciated..
