Does ASIAir store the filter to the FITS header when an EFW is used? If so, why wouldn't this same functionality simply be replicated for the manual filter change?
Saving the filter in both the filename and the fits header are important. The filename allows us to manage the files in the filesystem, and the filter in the FITS header is important because that's how stacking software like PixInsight, AstroPixelProcessor, etc. know that a sub was taken with a particular filter (otherwise this filter association must be done manually, and it can be confusing across many filters especially for newcomers to the hobby, who the ASIAir specifically targets).
