  • ASI1600MM Pro Captures Fails After Setting Exposure Back Below 2s

Hello,

I noticed when I am using the ASI1600MM Pro on either ASI Studio 1.11 and SharpCap 4.1, when I set the exposure setting to 2 seconds or higher, everything is working as it should. When I set it to any exposure back below 2s, it fails to get the image unless I set it back it back to 2s or higher. Only fix I found is that I have to unplug the camera and plug it back in then I can control the exposure below 2s just fine and get images. Once I pass that 2s and above is when I can't get exposures below 2s until I unplug/plug the camera back in.

I tried this with ASI Cap 1.6.2 that I still had installed on this computer, and I am able to set the exposure to any rate even after setting it to 2s and higher, everything working fine through that program. It is just with ASI Studio and SharpCap that has this issue. In the SharpCap logs, it is saying that it has dropped frames of type ZWOTimeout.

I also tried setting the USB traffic, changing between 8/16 bit, binning modes. Just simply had only the camera plugged in, nothing in its hub to nothing else connected on the computer. It just doesn't seem to change anything until I unplug/plug the camera. I have installed the latest drivers for the cameras (V3.24 and ASCOM V6.5.25) and checked the firmware installer and can't find any firmware files to install for the 1600MM. (The Firmware software says that Camera has firmware V5.0 and FPGA firmware 1600 V.03--1.1.2.7)

Is there anything about this issue or what I can do?

Thank you for your time.

thKUNKLiST I thought you have tried different USB cables and powers.
Is there any difference in ASICap and ASIImg? and how often does this problem occur?
If you would refer to this guide to catch the SDK log and send to us wil be helpful. thanks.

thKUNKLiST Hey Sean, do you enable cooling on the camera? If not, does the problem go away if you do?

Tech@ZWO The problem occurs consistently and repeatable. There is no difference between ASICap and ASIImg, the problem happens in both programs. Unfortunately, I do not have any other cable to use besides the one that came with the camera. Here are two log files from using ASIImg and ASICap:

        cap-asicamerasdk.txt
        22kB
        img-asicamerasdk.txt
        96kB

wvreeven I recently lost part of the power cable I have for using the cooler so lately I have been going without the cooler. I did find another power cord to use to do a test. From what I can see, it still occurs whether the cooler is on / when it is at target temp / off.

thKUNKLiST Sean, thank you for your test, this is a bug in the v1.35 SDK, we will release the fixed version as soon as possible.
Before that you can replace the same name SDK file in the installation folder of ASIStudio and sharpcap with a old version, i attached here.

          lib.zip
          2MB

I patched the files in and that did it. It is all working now.
Thank you very much for your time and effort, I will keep an eye out for the new version.
            Keep up the good work,

I have the exact same issue with my ASI1600MM Pro. However, I am running it with INDI.
Will there be a driver update that can be compiled with INDI?
