Sure it can be done, but are you sure that it is actually recommended? Power peak from mount can cause lack of juice in ASIAIR and many times does, so mount should not suck its power from ASIAIR.

I really wouldn't power your mount from any of the ASIAIR models.

Corsair I would love to argue with you about this all night but let me quote from the 2600MC Air manual:

"The camera has multiple DC power ports. You can choose any one
as the power input port, while the remaining DC interfaces can be used as
power output ports, powering devices such as the dew heater strap or
mount."

I also read forum posts where ZWO said a good way to power the AM3 mount (which is what I have) is connecting it to the camera power ports, so that is what I have done.

If the issue is caused by power, I doubt it would be so rare. As I've stated, most nights it works. I think there is a recurring software bug. We'll see what ZWO finds.

azskyguy I'll also quote from Peter Zelinka's review of the 2600MC Air camera:
"ZWO recommends powering the AM5 through one of the power ports on the 2600 Air. This would allow you to use a single battery and power all of your equipment. I've been using this approach for the past few nights and it works great! "
Of course I power an AM3 which has a lesser power draw.

azskyguy Those power ports seem to be simple pass-through ports - almost like using a splitter cable.

Only that review says that it is recommended somewhere (where?), all other references say that it is possible. All that is possible, is not wise to do in real life. It is not necessarily very usual situation. You see the symptoms only when there is need for power simultaneously in AIR and mount and AIR has some critical task to do.

ZWO gives the following wording on the Asiair webpage: 4 DC output for you to connect [...], mount (depending on power requirement).
There is no need to be too conservative about that. Some mount will work without any issue and other will not. I have powered my HEQ5 and Ioptron CEM40 through the ASIair for years without issue but I did have issue with an EM400 mount so I powered it independently.

Hara As you can see from the ZWO response below, it is a software, not a power issue. It does not appear in my experience, to relate to any simultaneous power requests to the camera and the mount. As the manual says that power output of the camera can power a mount I think at this point that is the final word. Do you have a 2600MC Air camera and any experience at all of seeing the problem first hand? If I required 2 power supplies it would have been suggested by ZWO.

This is not new with the 2600MC air, it existed with the ASIAIR standalone as well. Part of the problem is a conflict between marketing hype and real world recommendations.

azskyguy No, but as many many others, I have had power issues if mount is powered via ASIAIR. Problem is real and there is a straight forward simple solution for it. 😁

Hara We'll see what ZWO comes up with. I've had otherASIAIR models, and they were always dual powered. The 2600 Air is a different animal, so I relied on what people who should know told me and the manual.

They are not pass-thru, they are PWM current limited outputs.

Ever since the last update, when ever I power on the device all the power ports for "DEW HEATER" are 100%, I set them to the correct value, then come out again the next day and they are back to 100%, if you reboot the device the settings are not retained. Have I discovered a bug in this latest Update? has any one else noticed this and what can I do to set this problem off?

Once again my 2600 MC Air has frozen while trying to download an image. It gets stuck on 'loading'. Only a reboot will get me going again. This has been reported and logs sent for several weeks. I was told a fix was coming in a few days more than a week ago. I did get an update, that has not fixed any of the issues I am seeing, such as failure to plate solve when doing a polar alignment, WiFi dropouts when close to the camera, and this constant freezing during a download. I did notice the ASIAir software now has ads for other ZWO products. This is not a step forward.
I have sent the logs for the two freezes tonight.

Regarding this question, there are some setting details that need to be confirmed with you. What filter did you use? What is the exposure time of PA? Did you successfully focus in front of PA?

Are you connecting directly to ASIAIR or through a station? If you are using 2.4G in station mode, you can try switching to 5G.

PMTeam@ZWO Thank you for responding. I'll answer each question.
On the matter of plate solves, yes, I focus first. I use a 10 second exposure. The software reports many stars, but plate solves fail. If I use the all sky method, and your alternate plate solve method it works perfectly.
It doesn't seem to matter which filter I use. Tonight I was using an Antlia HaOIII filter. I see plenty of stars on the first exposure.

I connect to the camera WiFi in station mode. The drop outs occur in either 5gHz or 2.4 gHz. For reference my ASIAIR pro and plus worked perfectly from the same location.

I did not see any corrupted downloads tonight, but that seems a random occurrence, and it could happen any time. I'm not imaging overnight unattended, because when one of those corrupted files comes through it messes up each following file.

On the freezing on loading issue, I have sent multiple logs that should help you find what is going on. I have also sent logs when I get a corrupted image. One other person on this forum had the plate solve failure issue when polar aligning.

For polar alignment try 2-3 seconds exposure without filter. Too many stars can limit success rate.
I only have issues on PA when clouds are passing through. This became also more of a problem lately. In the past plate solve would almost always work even with some clouds.

Just a thought but 10 second exposure during PA seems long. I use 1 second exposure and much of the reading I have done suggest maybe 2 seconds. I have not seen 10 second exposures for PA being recommended. I use 1 second with and without filters. Maybe 10 seconds is OK...just seems long. Have you tried shorter exposures?

Hello. The 10s exposure time set by PA is too long. 10s exposure may cause problems such as star point dragging, reducing the chance of successful solve. Our suggestion is to set the exposure time to about 3s.
