Seestar S50 Cannot See Ubiquiti Unifi U7 Pro XG Wifi

Hello,

I have the Seestar S50 that was working perfectly until I upgraded my wifi AP to the new Ubiquiti Unifi U7 Pro XG. Now when I go into Station Mode it no longer sees my wifi networks, only my neighbours.

I can connect from my phone to the device itself, but I'd rather have it in Station Mode and connect to my better/stronger wifi.

Incidentially it was fine connecting to my previous Unifi AP (Unifi AC-Pro) but it appears to not like something about this new access point.

A couple of screenshots taken showing my phone able to see all available wifi networks, and the Seestar only able to see my neighbours.

I have recently updated to the latest firmware, and reset the device when the app couldn't find it on my local network so I was able to connect directly to the device.

Please enter station mode and switch to 5G or 2.4G band. Is your router network band 10.0.0.x?

I'll give the 5ghz thing a go, but it worked fine before.

Yes, 10.0.0.x IP region.

Hi,

Two things come to mind that might be worth checking:

Your newer AP also support Wifi 7, which can utilize the 6 Ghz band. Make sure your new AP also transmits on the older 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands.
Wishful thinking: are you sure your network is not hiding it's SSID?

Yep, it is still transmitting on those frequencies.

And nope, not hiding SSIDs.

Allright, the next thing I would try/check is what channel is utilized by you new AP to transmit in the 5 Ghz band.
Try a couple (not the DFS ones).

I was never a wireless engineer, but I know that based on the geographical location of wireless networked devices, certain channels will not be in use. All countries have certain channels forbidden (government or aerospace use).

Also helps if all devices involved are set to the same country/location. In this case your Seestar and the AP (via Unifi Controller).

A quick update. The Seestar can now see all of my Wireless networks, but refuses to connect to my main one (RyFi) in either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz mode. It will however connect to my network for IoT devices (RyFi IoT).

From comparing the two the difference between them are as follows..

6Ghz - RyFi - On
6Ghz - RyFi IoT - Off

Security Profile - RyFi - WPA2/3
Security Profile - RyFi IoT - WPA2

PMF - RyFi - Optional
PMF - RyFi IoT - Disabled

Fast Roaming - RyFi - On
Fast Roaming - RyFi IoT - Off

Any further thoughts would be great. Yes.. I have a temporary solution in using my IoT wifi but I'd rather not if possible.

1.Disable WPA3 encryption on the RyFi network and use WPA2 instead.
2.Disable PMF and Fast Roaming settings to see if that fixes the connection issue.
3.To log into the router interface, open your browser and enter the router's IP address in the address bar. Enter the router’s administrator username and password to access the router management interface.
To change the LAN settings, find the "Advanced Settings" or "Network Settings" in the router menu. Look for "LAN Port Settings" or "LAN Settings" and change the router’s IP subnet from 10.0.0.x to another subnet.
After making the changes, save them and restart the router to apply the new settings.

I believe I've narrowed down the issue. I'll run through my steps..

Turn Off 6Ghz
Seestar device attempts to connect but fails.
Turn Off Fast Roaming
Seestar device attempts to connect but fails.
Change security from WPA2/3 to WPA2 (which also changed PMF to disabled)
Seestar device attempts to connect but fails.
Created a new VLAN using 10.0.40.x range for RyFi wireless network
This worked! And the Seestar has connected to the RyFi wireless network. I have since turned all the above back on (6Ghz, Fast Roaming & changed security back to WPA2/3) and it still works.

So it seems there is a problem with the Seestar S50 connecting to 10.0.0.x subnets?
